With producer Siggi behind the boards, contributing a handclap-heavy, synth beat, Bashy sets the stage spitting bold and direct on “Bring The Lights Down.” If the London MC’s clever wordplay isn’t enough, however, then his braggadocious, rapid-fire flow should definitely satisfy. Director Greg Francis provides some energetic, masterfully shot visuals to accompany the triumphant narrative while rising songstress Jareth ties the record together with an anthemic chorus. Known for making waves with his sharp-shooting rhymes, West London rapper Bashy makes his long-awaited return with “These Are The Songs.” The MC, who has steadily been making a name for himself ever since his breakout track, “Black Boys,” chronicles his memories of UK Garage music’s golden years, as well as his transformation from childhood to adulthood. On the hook, Jareth’s silky vocals combine with his commanding rhymes atop the heavy, up-tempo beat brings “Love The Way You Lie” to mind. “I was a little man, chocolate boy and the girls knew the sugar was sweeter / See everybody like “Pow!”, I was like “oi!”, and that’ll be my summer of love,” he spits over the cinematic, grime-infused boardwork. “These Are The Songs” is scheduled for release on September 8, followed by the arrival of his forthcoming EP.
