If you’re hip to the major grind of Charlotte, NC right now then you’re definitely no stranger to rapper James Malik. You can typically catch the 23 year-old rapper amongst the Atlanta scene or sharing the stage with various artists of Awful Records (Father, Lord Narf, Archibald Slim, the list could go on) and even creating dope music with them in the studio.

Recently the rapper released his newest track entitled “180 (Shady)” produced by his cousin as well as Awful Records’ DJ Dexter Dukarus. Not only was the track produced by Dukarus but the track was made in homage to him in spite of having to go away for the time being. Although having to be absent in the studio, Dex did manage to leave a folder of beats before he went away trusting that Malik would put them to good use. Of the 30-something tracks that exist from their duo sessions, the rapper decided that his cousin’s work would go far from unnoticed.

The latest track continues to surround Malik’s classic theme of things getting out of control then resolving it with some dank. This time the single takes on a different route focusing on how there is no point of return from the humbling situation but it takes a 180 for the best. While this single is a great collaboration between the two, the dope thing about this is that all the profits from purchasing the song will directly go towards helping Dex with his current situation. To see a song being put together by two creatives is great and all but the fact that it’s being put to good use (willingly) is just icing on the cake. Since there is multiple sessions that have yet to be released, there’s a pretty good chance that this wont be the last we hear from the duo. For now, peep the track below and tell us what you think of the track.
