Stephen King and J.J. Abrams are teaming up again for another Hulu series. Their first series 11.26.63 was a hit based off of King’s book. The two will now work together on another series based on another King’s writing. The series will focus on a fictional place King uses a lot in his work: Castle Rock.

Hulu has ordered a first season of 10 episodes, with production to begin this year. No premiere date has been announced as of yet.

According to the Hulu description, “Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.” Hulu adds that the series is “a first-of-its-kind re-imagining that explores the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon, while brushing up against some of his most iconic and beloved stories.”

The teaser shows famous locations in King’s novels like Shawshank State Prison and even hints at ‘It’ character Pennywise the clown. You can assume there will be many more references to King’s work throughout the series.

From the mind of Jonathan Nolan, the writer responsible for movies like The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises and Interstellar comes the HBO series Westworld. Executive produced by Nolan and J.J. Abrams, Westworld premieres this October on HBO and is inspired by the 1973 film of the same title written by Michael Crichton about a futuristic theme park populated by artificial beings. HBO’s Westworld is a sci-fi show that focuses on a theme park with androids, which act out any fantasy the visitors can think of – no matter how dark or twisted.

HBO describes Westworld as “a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.” The television series stars Ben Barnes (The Chronicles of Narnia), Ingrid Bolsᴓ Berdal (Chernobyl Diaries), Clifton Collins Jr. (Pacific Rim), Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind), Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal), Sidse Babett Knudsen (Borgen), James Marsden (X-Men), Thandie Newton (The Pursuit of Happyness), Simon Quarterman (The Devil Inside), Rodrigo Santoro (300), Angela Sarafyan (The Twilight Series: Breaking Dawn), Jimmi Simpson (White House Down), Mike Watson, Evan Rachel Wood (Across The Universe), Shannon Woodward (Raising Hope) and Jeffrey Wright (Mockingjay).

The trailer opens up with a shot of Dolores (Evan Rachel Wood), seemingly one of the artificial beings, questioning the world around her. We also learn of a computer glitch and catch a glimpse of the rogue robot gunslinger. If you blink then you would miss the quick shot of a small model of Westworld, presumably where all these characters reside, in what looks like the inside of a futuristic lab or spaceship. If this is where these characters reside, how do humans get into Westworld and how do they get out, if they do get out?

So many questions to be asked and hopefully answered in this 10 episode series. What we do know from this trailer is that this will be one incredible show. Nolan has once again raised the bar for the sci-fi genre.
