L.A.-based duo, Stalgia, offers up a twist to their new single “In The Trees“- a hazy track that becomes instantly mesmerizing as the breathy vocals blend into the tranquil rhythm. On its own, the single stands strong but feels inviting enough for others put their own little tweak on it. And that’s exactly what happened.

When producer Chevali happened to be working in a studio next to Stalgia and first heard the rough version of “In The Trees,” he immediately asked if he could put his own spin on the record. The new version of the single keeps that same alluring essence of the track intact, but increases its impact by adding a heavy bassline that makes it hit even harder.

Even with this extra flare, both Chevali and Stalgia knew something was still missing. Stalgia had already been fans of Milwaukee rapper IshDARR’s single “Too Bad,” so they reached out to him hoping he would be the missing link to completing this new mix—and he was. IshDARR’s voice enters at the halfway mark of the remix, creating a much needed juxtaposition that helps balance out the sound. As a result, “In The Trees” is transformed into a single with the potential to reach even further than it already has.

Listen to Chevali’s remix of “In The Trees” at the very top, and feel free to give us your thoughts.

Independent artists keep music exciting & always remind us that there is so much talent in the world. These artists will come from all over the country & have various backgrounds but all their music will be unique in a way as they pave the way for the next wave of music. Enjoy!

wifisfuneral comes out of Florida with an energetic, uptempo sound. His lyrics are charged up and his flows come with entertaining rhymes and ad-libs. The Florida talent has done well crafting his sound and has shown his ability to provide various sounds. He keeps new material coming out consistently and has proven to hold a solid work ethic. Get in tune.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

The biggest goal I hope to accomplish in 2015 is honestly just to make sure I’m at a platform with my music where it’s being heard in places I thought it’d never be heard in. I wanna have people of all races/genders and all that shit just fuck with it if they like it.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

A message I would want to give my listeners when they listen to my music is just to be them. The easier you find it is just to be yourself and just be honest with yourself about the shit you did then fuck everything else.

– How would you describe your own sound?

I’d describe my music as just honesty if that make any sense? I look at my music as me just telling my story about my life in the most honest way possible. I couldn’t just hop on a mic and spit some shit I think is hard. I gotta feel it.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

Biggest lesson I’ve leaned in music is trust no one, and I’ll leave it at that.

2. IshDARR – (@ishDARR)

IshDARR comes out of the Midwest with feel-good energy and a nice blend of sounds. He describes himself as a young spirit with an old soul and his music is a testimony to that. The Milwaukee artist’s lyrics give us his life perspective as his abstract production gives him a sound of his own. Having shown us rhyming abilities and some vocal showcases, his sound only gets better.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

The biggest goal i hope to make for 2015 is making a name for my city musically wise, or at least start to build one. I feel we have talent that is slept on so us kids are going to be heard one way or another.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

I hope my music gives listeners faith that dreams can turn reality quickly if you put your mind to it. Once you put your mind to it, it gradually just takes off and before you know it you have a bunch of people vibing with you and wanting more.I want to make sure my music stays pure and touches the people.

– How would you describe your own sound?

I would describe my sound as unique and always growing. I am still finding my own sound by various ways. Playing with voice tones and melodies as well as keeping it all HipHop. My sound is not complete at all yet, and hope to only improve it. I do not want to be stuck in a box of one sound especially that is not true to me so I am working on that every day until im comfortable and find my main sound. I just do however I’m feeling right now.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

The biggest lesson I learned about making music is that to stay relevant you have to just remain true yourself. The people love you more if your being you instead of trying to be someone else. I like singing and doing melodies and shit, but some times I just want to get on Talib Kweli shit and murder with the facts. Its something many artist just forget once they get some attention but I know where my roots are at and how all this music started for me.

3. Messiah Da Rapper – (@MessiahDaRapper)

Messiah Da Rapper comes out of the South and is bringing back that smooth sound. As a self-proclaimed pimp, Messiah keeps it real and infuses his lyrics with real life situations and plenty of games. His laid-back flow adds to his sound as he represents as part of the Southern Playas.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

My biggest goal was the Release of my mixtape #SweetTooth. I had already gained to notoriety of being a rapper but this tape was to show the people and the fans what I was bringing to the table

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

My listeners need to know that they’re dealing with a renaissance man…I can do it all. I know, because I have. In life and in music, I provide the sound that any and everyone can relate to. And at the end of a day wit me, you’ll understand. It’s about PIMPIN LIFE . Don’t let it Pimp you.

– How would you describe your own sound?

SOUTHERN. I’m a Kountry boi, cool as a fan, sharp as a tack, real smooth though. Laid back like a recliner . You hear me and say “that’s a cool dude right there.”

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

Uhh I think my biggest lesson is uhh…making the music I WANT TO MAKE and how I want to make it. Not worrying so much on what I think wants to be heard. Ya know, like I’m myself on every track. What I display is who I am on an everyday basis. For the longest I tried to change my style of rap because of certain comparison and voice similarities that have been mentioned . But I had to understand that this is me. This is my sound. There’s no changing or altering that. So to sum it up, my biggest lesson was making sure I was being myself and perfecting my sound.

4. GABRL – (@GABRL954)

GABRL is a Florida talent that is packed with variety. He has the ability to provide us with an R&B sound but can also lace us with quality rhymes. The emerging artist continues to provide music that ranges in styles and is a great songwriter. As he continues to build on his sound, the music continues to get better and better.

– What’s the biggest goal you hope to accomplish in 2015?

Solidly my fan base so somebody could put me on tour next year.

– What message do you hope your music gives to the listeners?

Don’t be flaw. If you don’t know what that means, Be what you say you’re about.

– How would you describe your own sound?

I saw somebody say they feel like they’re at the “Trap circus” when they listen to my song “Who” so I thought that was interesting. I don’t really have a specific sound, if you listen to my tape it’s pretty diverse.

– What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned since making music?

If you do this cuz you want to be famous and have money you’ll probably end up quitting before you really get anywhere.
