What a year it’s been for River Tiber. The Canadian born artist has already collaborated with Pusha T, set out on a world tour with Kaytranada, and had two of his records premiered on Zane Lowe‘s Beats 1 radio show. Well, now you can add releasing an album to that list as today he shared his newest project Indigo a week early with fans via an Apple Music exclusive.

Combining smooth vocals with off the hook production that mirrors much of the sound currently spewing from Toronto, Indigo is a 12-track-project with only two features (Daniel Caesar and fellow 6 native Tess Parks). Highlighted by the strong internet single in “Acid Test“, which premiered on Beats 1, the album delves into some of the trials and tribulations that he has gone through up to this point in his life. Tracks such as “West” underline the struggle of reaching success and wanting to branch out, but not being quite ready to leave the nest just yet. “On this project, I deliberately separated the tracks.” said the Toronto native in a recent interview with RWD Magazine,  “I was in some little way thinking about that, that the songs might be taken out of context. With that said, the album has a very deliberate order and flow to it, and you can’t really experience the whole concept if you take it out of context.”

Whether we decide to acknowledge River Tiber as a budding star now, or we continue to choose to ignore his impending popularity, it’s going to happen with or without us.
