Young Thug Gets Militant In “For My People” (Video)

Young Thug’s latest release, I’m Up, went from being a highly anticipated full-length project (originally called Slime Season 3), to a nine-track project that was as random as it was underwhelming. Granted there were a few bright spots, but for the most part, unless you are a die-hard fan of Young Thug, I’m Up, is not what you hoped for from the often risqué Atlanta rapper.

I did say there were bright spots on the project, right?

One of those bright spots is a song called “For My People”, that sees Thugger Thugger teaming up with frequent collaborator Duke for what is a pretty exciting track, to say the least. Even Pusha T tweeted his approval for the song at one point in time.

With none other than Be El Be behind the lens, Young Thug liberates the brand new visual for “For My People” and it’s as militant as ever. While it is highly doubtful that Young Thug will cause the stir Beyoncé did at the Super Bowl, he definitely tries as the clip takes place in an overcast backdrop, with everyone dressed in pseudo-Black Panther get-ups and marching in the streets with guns drawn. I guess when you utter lines like, “Farrakhan me, I’m a leader”, you kinda have to shoot a video that sticks to code.

Young Thug and Quavo throw a surprise party for Boosie BadAzz in “F Cancer” video

Cancer is a disease that affects, and at times claims the lives of many people all across the world. If you recall, Boosie BadAzz was recently diagnosed with the illness, but after a successful surgery his cancer was removed.

The new video for Young Thug’s banger, “F Cancer”, sees Thugger, draped in pink scrubs, taking Boosie off of bed rest, getting him fly and, with the help of Quavo, throwing him a fun-filled surprise party to celebrate the defeat of the disease.

You can find the Mike Will Made-It-produced “F Cancer” on Young Thug’s recently released project, I’m Up, which used to be Slime Season 3, which is apparently still on the way.

Stream Young Thug’s “I’m Up”

After two previous installments, Young Thug has put his Slime Season series on ice, taking a page from Kanye West’s book and frantically renaming the project, I’m Up (formerly Slime Season 3).

Nine tracks in length, I’m Up is described by Thugger’s go-to director, Be El Be, as “an album not mixtape”, comparing it “exactly” to Barter 6, which might be debatable.

Press play on I’m Up, which features production from Mike Will Made-It, Wheezy, and more, as well as guest appearances from Quavo, Offset, and Lil Durk, who assists Young Thug on the standout, “Ridin”.

Gucci Mane Releases I’m Up Mixtape

Gucci Mane has been working hard this year. His most recent project is I’m Up. Like its predecessor, Trap Back, I’m Up features a range of guest artists and producers. If you favor the production styles of Drumma Boy and Mike Will, this is definitely the mixtape for you; they produced almost half the tracks. Thematically, the mixtape is a uneven, but as a compilation album, it succeeds. You won’t be listening to this mixtape 4 years from now, but for now, download it and do the B Pumper Dance (actually, don’t do that). You can download the mixtape here.
