Dynamic London duo Jamo Beatz (Rejjie Snow’s DJ) and Mr. IAMNEXT (Sheshie) are cultivating their community through entertainment events, music and breaking top American music acts into the UK music scene.

Having already created a British spotlight for 6ix9ine, Sheck Wes, Migos, Denzel Curry, Ski Mask The Slump God, and Jay Critch, these two creatives have become London’s hottest taste makers.

I had the pleasure of catching up with them recently in a short Q&A. Check it out below.

RESPECT.: How did you all get your start in the music business ?

Jamo: House parties. I started hosting house parties and people started wanting to get my mixes outside of parties so I starred a sound cloud and from there started getting bookings for fashion and branding stuff. 

RESPECT.: How did you all meet?

Sheshie: We met at one of my events at the House of Vans which was the first time I opened in London. It went viral and was a hit. We were introduced to each other by a mutual friend but didn’t connect until later at the yard. We kept running into each other and I finally needed a dj and decided Jamie was the perfect fit. 

We started working together and never stopped. We just wanted to find success together and push each other to be better. In 2016 we went on tour and never looked back!

RESPECT.: How important is it to cross over American artist into the UK? 

Sheshie: Because it gets you connected with a bigger audience and created a physical connection showing the power and effectiveness in your music outside of America. That physical aspect makes people believe in artists more. 

RESPECT.: What has been the most rewarding thing?

Both: Traveling to different countries and experiencing different cultures and foods. Being able to experience new things while doing your passion. Meeting new people from different worlds is most rewarding for him to seeing how they tackle life, hardship etc. it’s fascinating. 

RESPECT.: Can you tell me a little bit more about the IAMNEXT platform?

Sheshie: A platform where people can physically go to for up and coming music. I started it when I was 16 I’m 22 now. Its all about making people aware of up and coming artists and music in the London area.

Although there are many things like it, there aren’t any physical platforms for (mp3) . By throwing shows for up and coming artists in London, my popularity rose and the IAMNEXT platform became solidified.

RESPECT.: Why do you feel like what you are doing has garnered immense success ? 

Jamo: Because we are doing it for the people and the community. It’s a very selfless act . Bringing artists that people want to see and will pay to see is our goal. We create good experiencing for people to relax and enjoy. 

RESPECT.: What do you all have planned next? 

Jamo: We have a project coming out Feb. 2019 which will be an enfusion of hip hop jazz and r&b. 

I Am Next brand in 2019 will be doing a festival with major UK acts, and some American acts. Things and talent that maybe be looked over will be tackled at this festival working with a lot of emerging artists.
