President Barack Obama has signed disasters declarations for the states that are being affected by Hurricane Matthew.

The hurricane, which has already caused a death toll of at least 19 people in the U.S. and hundreds more outside of it, largely affected the states of Florida and Georgia as well as the Carolinas before the title was downgraded to that of a tropical storm as of Sunday, ABC reports. A statement from the White House reads that the funding will be available for local and state efforts. It is also reported that the Federal Emergency Management Agency is still collecting damage surveys, and more counties than those already able to receive funding could be added in the future for additional aid from the government.

While the storm is not as strong, there are still warnings that flooding has not reached its peak yet, and that people in affected areas should continue to be careful. FEMA urges people to listen to state, local, and tribal officials in order to better stay safe and know the dangers in their areas.
