In a recently received email, Kentucky was satirically described as only being known to the world for college hoops (Kentucky Wildcats), The Kentucky Derby, The First 48 and red-hot R&B newcomer Bryson Tiller, who calls Louisville, Kentucky home. However, Nemo Achida and his Hoodstock Records family are aiming to change that and show people a different side of The Bluegrass State; and Hoodstock Radio is exactly how they plan to achieve such a task.

With a similar feel to Kanye West’s ever popular (but lately, pretty damn inconsistent) G.O.O.D. Fridays music series, Hoodstock Radio will feature all new music, dropping on a weekly basis and showcasing Hoodstock artists Nemo, DesignerFlow and Pinky Liberachi, who is fresh off the release of his latest project, The Love Pink EP, which saw a fair deal of success, and is still very much in the rotation of many listeners.

First up from the camp is “Make Things Right”, which is a groovy new record that flawlessly meshes the very different and distinct styles of Nemo Achida, DesignerFlow, and Pinky Liberachi. Fans of the late, great Big Pun might appreciate this one, as Nemo opens up the record with “I had to flip that white/To save my life”, sung in the same highly familiar cadence as Pun’s classic record, “It’s So Hard“.

Take a listen to “Make Things Right”, below and stay tuned for more from the Hoodstock Radio music series. Every Monday you can expect a new drop. Oh, and when you’re finished vibing out to this week’s Hoodstock Radio installment, head on over here to check out Inspired by the Hustle, a documentary that is shot and edited by Brian Campbell, and chronicles the Hoodstock Records collective.

Cannon hits us over the head with a 5-track EP in the form of Santana Services.

If you’ve been along for the ride with J. Cannon to this point, you are fully aware of how he’s grown as an emcee. Even if you’re just getting hip, you find Santana Services refreshing, as it provides witty wordplay and production that isn’t to be slept on.

The Hoodstock camp looks to be on a tear that can result in some really good music. Stream Santana Services, below.
