Hunter Lewis, Ian Olney and Nicotine, make up Nicotine’s Famous Honey.  A talented trio from Texas blending Soul, Jazz, Hip-Hop and style together to give all of their listeners a breath of fresh air.   Recently I got the chance to meet the talented group for their Debut Album release party.

Supporters crowded the DIY venue for Honey’s debut album and performance An Open Letter and throughout the night other talented artist took to the stage to perform including Mallory Merk , DJ Cosmosnite and Herrick and Hooley, making sure the vibes were lit for everyone attending.

An Open Letter features brilliant production from Dallas, Texas band Herrick And Hooley  on top of  Nicotine’s soulful voice. An Open Letter is one of my favorites albums of 2017 so far.  Now with that said check out the debut album, An Open Letter from Nicotine’s Famous Honey.

Delaware creative Rakeem Miles is back with his latest music video of “Monte Carlo.” The song features Herrick and Hooley & Lifestream, bringing a bright and enthused mood to the scene. 

The song bounces off of Rakeem’s ‘Do They Really Love You?’ album, which countered on Rakeem’s ability to keep an upbeat tempo throughout the project, while still keeping subject matter as the vital role. It a song like “Grandma,” we are welcomed into the calm serenity of Rakeem’s thoughts, while showing his love for his Grandmother.

“Monte Carlo” is a smooth song that is a fun song to blast all throughout he summer and beyond. As far as the album, he had to be patient with the outcome.

“Took a long time trying to find inspiration for it. Took me about a year of gathering beats and trying to knock out songs that flow with the vibe on the album,” Rakeem said.

He is currently embarking on a tour with fellow Delaware artists Mike G of Odd Future and Rex The Rager for their ‘Weird N Awful’ Tour.

That’s what happened for me when I came across Dallas born trio, Herrick & Hooley. The experimental band makes a musical mixture of Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Soul, and even fuses some Pop influence into their music. During their live performances Hunter Lewis lays down groovy drum beats accompanied by Michael Barnes’ bass line and Ian Olney’s piano/vocal contribution. The band bends genre boundaries when Olney embraces total Hip-Hop and raps with Lewis’ thoughtfully constructed beats and productions. The three thrive within the middle zone of their varied influences to introduce their audience to genres they may have overlooked all while pushing current music in their own unique direction.

Their latest release, “Beach,” shows the three young artists putting their musical skills on display for the world to see. The smooth and dreamy vibes provided on the track seem to come effortlessly to the talented trio. Take a listen to “Beach” here and be on the look out for more from Herrick & Hooley.
