]]> I.W. Harper hosted a New York Fashion Week event on Tuesday [February 12th]  promoting the fashion culture and their classic whisky brand. The event took place at VNYL displaying a variety of mixing station, barbers, and vendors who created custom luggage tags along with on-site embroidered socks. The highlight of the event was the special preview fashion panel discussion hosted by GQ’s Mark Anthony Green; celebrity stylist – Kesha McLeod, and more. Check out the exclusive interview below discussing their fashion influences and overall career.

Q: What Inspires Your Work?

A: “It really important to be inspired by things that aren’t in the field you’re working in. To say if I’m working on a mag story I’m probably more inspired by a movie. Or if I’m writing a script then I’m probably thinking of some magazine story. I think it’s important to bring different influences into the things you do – Mark Anthony Green

“What inspires me is the execution of it all. I like to see the end result. seeing the work, I enjoy the journey through the process of my work.” – Kesha McLeod

Q: When Did You Realize You Wanted To Pursue A Career In Fashion?

A: “When I was 4 the first paper I wrote in pre-school; and I would say it before and I would say I wanted to work at GQ. My dad used to always get the magazines.” – Mark Anthony Green

“Mines was in grade school and we wore uniforms and we had that one dress down day..and people were looking forward to what I was wearing.” – Kesha McLeod

Q: What Are Your Current Favorite Fashion Trends Or Statements?

A: “Like I love Venus X and everything that she’s been doing with ghetto gothic. I love Shayne and Hood By Air. I think it’s so dope, it’s apart of fashion, and apart of New York. ” – Mark Anthony Green

“One of the trends I’ve seen is that there are no rules no more and you can’t wear black or brown, no more no white after labor day. You can really do what you want.” – Kesha McLeod

Q: What Advice Could You Offer Those In Fashion Inspired Your Journey?

A: “Most of the people that don’t make it, it’s not that they didn’t have the talent. It’s that they gave up.” – Mark Anthony Green

“I think keep going. People do give up early on and they don’t understand that it is a whole journey.” – Kesha McLeod
