In his first self-directed visual, Haddy teams with emerging lyricist Co Ice for a rousing freestyle to Cam’ron’s classic “That’s Me“, which will appear on Racks’ upcoming Live From The 718 mixtape, a prelude to New York Gritty.

Racks also takes us on a visit to the memorial mural for Harlem legend Huddy 6, speaking on the influence that the area’s music and culture have had on his career and the New York Gritty project, which is slated for release on March 9.

As you’ll see in the visuals, the story’s raw and gripping narrative has its own happy ending, because Racks and his actual son spend much of the video together catching up on lost time. Director IAMNATURELL captures their time together in a way that makes it feel like you’re watching a short film unfold, because the clip also features moments where Racks is clearly distraught over the situation.

The video arrives after Racks’ prolific and impressive 2016. The year included the release of his debut album, Resumé, which features “My Lil Man”, produced by Buda & Grandz, as well as other standout tracks, in addition to two projects, Racketeering and Mixtagram. Mixtagram is actually an ongoing, conceptual effort that blends Instagram videos with music from Racketeering, proving that Racks is just as innovative as he is talented.

Haddy Racks hails from the Mecca where it all started; The Bronx, and  as an upcoming heavyweight in hip-hop, he shows no signs of slowing down.  Consistently providing us with gritty music to vibe out to, he puts a pretty ill spin on today’s viral music with the release of his #Mixtagram Volume 1 visual mixtape.

Indubitably, we have to give Haddy his credit for a dope concept.  The original seven-video series follows him around New York City as he jacks classic beats by some of our favorite legends in the culture.  It’s refreshing to catch a Bronx native do what he’s supposed to #fortheculture in 2016.  Haddy rocks over Nas, Tupac, Mary J Blige, Amerie, Cam’ron, and Monica instrumentals and laces them proper with noteworthy freestyles, doing nothing but justice with this mini project.

It’s no secret…

Racked Up is unquestionably setting it off proper in 2016. Following the release of his official video to his BX anthem, “Where The Bronx At,” the verbal bomber is back with another one, (lol).

Dwindling or re-ascending keys & rung off shots is nothing new when it comes to the more  gritty aspects of New York City, which is the theme of BX emcee, Haddy Racks’ new joint “New York Gritty (My Home Town.” Except these keys and gunshots make their appearance in the ever-fitting production by Chopz165, with a piano instrumental garnished by fire rounds peppered through.

Lyrically, the record is nostalgic about all aspects of borough living, from corner hustling to Timbs’ in the winter. Throughout “New York Gritty,” Haddy excels at executing hip-hop’s original purpose: to serve as the Hood’s own CNN, for those unacquainted. Like any seasoned anchor, he even offers listeners a sign-off reminder:

You don’t know what to do until you under pressure,’cause growing up in New York is a hell of a tester.

With a gritty street, yet real and identifiable sound, rapper Haddy Racks exhibits the type of music the game critically needs right now. You know, that un-watered down, gimmick-free music that many can feel. On his latest mixtape, Respect The Come Up, you’ll hear Mr. RackdUp go in on some of your favorite classics, from old to new, which only displays his versatility as an artist.

This artist is definitely not just a local rapper following a trend. Haddy is indeed a dope and consistent emcee who feels strongly about his craft and Rackd Up movement, which is something you will unquestionably hear in his music. His cadence and delivery are just two of the dope elements he brings to Hip-Hop and one of the reasons the people should pay attention.
