“Five Borough Thorough” King Gabriel Baez stage also known as “Gramzunkut” takes honor in being born on Halloween of 77’. Growing up he’s lived in almost every borough, born in the Bronx, raised in Brooklyn, then relocated to Harlem where he spent a majority of his childhood in NYC now currently living in NJ with his three children.

He had a lively childhood, however, it was also quiet difficult due to his father having a drug addiction and a hard-working mother with two jobs. He quickly turned to movies, books, and music listening legendary artists such as Slick Rick, BDP & NWA which greatly influenced his sound. He states that “a kilo of grade A dope is Gramzunkut cause it’ll have you ODee hooked” and likes to keep his sound funky fresh with a “Realistic Soulful” rap style. He’s opened for Jay-Z, Chief Keef, Benny the Butcher, Uncle Murda, Cassidy, The Lox, and more.

He’s performed at venues and events such as Rolling Loud, Webster Theater, The Trap in Chicago, and more. The Thrill that the audience gave him at his first performance at SOB’s captivated him to do this long term. He’s guaranteed to make you bob your head with his vibrational Boom Bap inspired beats. He currently has four albums with his first three being compilation albums.

Gramzunkut states that he loves keeping it personal with his fans so if you reach out he won’t bite and hopes you’re looking forward to his next project where he debuts a true Hip-Hop sound showing you exactly what New York is all about.

RESPECT.: Growing up in NYC, what do you value most about where you are from? Gramzunkut: Being from NYC was great growing up having access to so much and never having to drive because the subway system also getting the opportunity to mingle with people from all over globe with Times Square being down the block an of course the hustle & bustle of the Big Apple in general from the Yankees to the Knicks.

RESPECT.: Who are your musical influences?

Gramzunkut: Most my influences are outside of hip hop from Terry Reid to George Clinton but my favorite artist are reality rap such as Eazy, Rakim, 2Pac, Too Short, Luke, Slick Rick, Mobb Deep, Snoop Dogg, Ice T, and Wu Tang to name a few.

RESPECT.: How did you first discover hip-hop?
Gramzunkut: I was born into it being from the Bronx in the 80’s was the best experience to see the first everything. Til this day I’m amazed to see what is become now just as I am with corner pay phones to iPhones.

RESPECT.: What does the game mean to you?
Gramzunkut: Hip-hop is my lifestyle and I’m blessed to have been the the game (music industry) for many years to me it’s a passion, a hustle, a job & a career to be honest it’s been my whole life.

RESPECT.: What is the best advice you can give to the youth on how to soak game from the OGs?
Gramzunkut: First they must understand that a OG is not someone older than you that grew up around you because there some old niggaz that lead young n****s down the wrong road. But if you do happen to come across a real OG then you take apart of his story and apply to your future to be greater than him and he should want that for the little homie.

RESPECT.: What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your career?
Gramzunkut: Follow ya path and don’t get caught up in another person wants and needs. Do & go where your heart tells you and stay solid to yourself still being respectful of others whether they deserve it or not.

RESPECT.: What current project are you working on?
Gramzunkut: For the year 2020 it’s been droping singles ever month so stay locked in to those from Gramzunkut & Globalthugz.

RESPECT.: What does success take?

Depends on your value of success just being out the hood is successful to me just some peace of mind and a good environment for my family.

RESPECT.: What does RESPECT. mean to you?
Gramzunkut: Just respect my space meaning don’t step outta line.
