Since the passing of the iconic Prince, the world has been in shambles, still coping with the loss.  Findings have concluded that the artist died of opioid overdose, according to officials.  Opioid is a pain killer that took the life of the legend suddenly.  There have been celebrations for the life of Prince since his tragic death, but none other than Prince having his very own day.

June 7th has been declared “Prince Day” by Minnesota’s Governor Mark Dayton, to celebrate what would be today Prince’s 58th birthday.  According to the proclamation from the governor’s office, “Minnesotans are encouraged to wear purple on Prince Day in honor of The Purple One’s enduring legacy.”  He credits Prince’s contributions “not only to the global catalogue of music genres, but to Minnesota’s worldwide prominence and its economic growth.”  According to Pitchfork, The declaration follows the introduction of the PRINCE Act (Personal Rights in Names Can Endure), which was pulled from the state legislation.  Read the full proclamation here.

Expect some other birthday parties and such today, according to Billboard.  Other events planned for Tuesday, June 7th include, “Let’s Go Crazy” dance party at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, which inducted Prince in 2004.  Spike Lee also hosted a birthday bash tribute (Purple Party) for Prince on the streets of Brooklyn, New York this past Saturday.

Tidal is also celebrating the Purple One by making available 15 of Prince’s most treasured albums for stream.  For the Prince’s birthday, the albums were added a few hours ago to get your funk on to albums like, Girl 6, The Black Album, The Gold Experience, Newpower Soul, and more.  These 15 new additions only enhance the collection that Tidal has already had for almost a year.  This surely helps the Jay-Z owned service stand out amongst the rest.
