New EP: CAVIART – “The Garden”

DJ/Producer duo CAVIART are here today to make their highly anticipated debut with “The Garden EP.” The Philly-bred artists bonded over a love for music in high school and having spent their years together in high school and college tweaking and perfecting their very own sound, the two are confident in their introductory EP, which fuses carefree hip-hop, sweet R&B, upbeat pop and entrancing hooks. All 4 tracks are self-produced, self-written and engineered in house, showcasing all of the duo’s strong suits. The iTunes version also contains two bonus tracks, and can be purchased here. New Music: Miguel – “Simplethings”

It’s easy to take Miguel‘s relationship to hip-hop for granted. Sure, his first album was driven by the titular single, “All I Want Is You,” which featured J. Cole, and more than a few of his songs have been produced by hip-hop producers, plus he’s provided solid hooks for singles by Wale and J. Cole, but songs like “Simplethings” are a stark reminder that Miguel‘s talents are wholly independent of hip-hop. Powerfully crooning over murky, distorted guitars, Miguel declares his desire for simple, uncomplicated love. Though the content of the songs is exactly the same, “Simplethings” is a far cry from “All I Want Is You.” On the latter, Miguel takes an intensive approach, expressing his passion with maximum potency. In contrast, “Simplethings” is a slow-cooker; the passion is palpable, but only if you get close enough to feel its intensity. “All I Want is You” is a song for your crushes; “Simplethings” is a song for your soulmate. Listen below.

“Simplethings” will be featured on the soundtrack to the second season of Girls.

Kid Cudi just released his new track “Girls” featuring West Coast pioneer, Too $hort. As per usual, Cudi’s lyrics are pretty straight forward: “Love them, I want them, they need me,” he sings on the title topic. It’s his voice that is intriguing here, as he sounds strangely strained and haunted. It’s composed of a similar palette, so if you liked his previous singles such as “Just What I am” and “Immortal,” you will like this. New Music: Santigold – “Girls”

The HBO Original Series Girls decided to create a soundtrack for the show and who better to create the title track but Santigold. The track, cleverly titled as “Girls”, will be featured on the show’s soundtrack which be out on January 8th right before the start of the second season. The track has a lot of energy and is reminiscent of a Gwen Stefani track. Peep it below.
