JR & PH7 and Chuuwee‘s collaborative record The South Sac Mack is finally available to the public. For those who’ve been trailing our posts at RESPECT. Mag leading up to this release we know you’ve been waiting for this. Just getting on board? It’s all good. Let’s briefly take a look at the album and walk through the details together before you tune in to this jewel.

If you’ve been living in the dark, German production duo JR & PH7 are two beat smiths who have an extensive resume and an acclaimed reputation on the hip-hop scene. This is not the first go-around for a collaboration with Sacramento’s Chuuwee, but the first full length effort and certainly their most crafted, complete body of work. There’s no denying that the three of them have ridiculous amounts of chemistry.

This may be the closest you get to a ride through Sacramento streets without actually visiting, while Chuuwee displays solid story telling and situational endeavors over JR & PH7’s convincing soundscapes. Aside the locational execution, relatable subjects were addressed – growing up, family ties, relationships and the power of a dollar. The features are tasteful, but don’t overwhelm the lp, with help from the wests own Blu, St3wart KooL, Bueno and Sean LaMarr. In total the record is an amazing release for 2015, as there is still a lot of phony “hip-hop” being released. This is one for your collection, so be sure to grab the digital copy, physical copy, or your 2LP vinyl version in a few weeks. Peace and love.

“Meanwhile off Mack“ is the debut single from JR & PH7 X Chuuwee’s collaborative full length release, The South Sac Mack, which is set to drop early 2015, via Below System Records. JR & PH7 are a production duo from Germany who have worked with some of your favorite Hip-Hop artists, including Skyzoo, Sean Price, Black Milk, Torae, Phonte, and Kev Brown to name a few. The pair offers a breath of fresh air as far as hope in real Hip-Hop is concerned, and their work is beyond worthy of checking out if you are unfamiliar.

Chuuwee is a young, energetic emcee hailing from the streets of Sacramento. He is an up-and-coming artist to keep an eye on as his lane continues to expand and he grows both individually and with Below System Records. Check out the ill visuals provided by Max Gudczinski and Ingo Leffin below:

The mastermind behind the iconic Obey Giant is back at it again. Shepard Fairey has spent the last few days curating a piece for the residents in Berlin, Germany, courtesy of Urban Nation. His newest piece titled, “Make Art, Not War,” tells viewers to put their arms down and pick up a brush.

For the One Wall project Fairey used bold lines and colors reminiscent of communist propaganda art. By applying red and black  to a large wall, the artist creates an abrasive contrast between his color palette and his message of peace.

It’s been 24 years since the destruction of the Berlin Wall, having this piece by Fairey up there is particularly strong in symbolism.

Following their performance at the German hip-hop and reggae Splash! Festival earlier this summer, The Underachievers, Issa and AK, sat down with Ben Maechler of urban lifestyle magazine Splash! Mag. They discussed topics ranging from the duo’s love of indie and alternative rock, the indigo theory, Jay Z‘s phenomenal crowd control, as well as possible collaborations with Flying Lotus, Lunice, and Statik Selektah for their upcoming album on FlyLo’s Brainfeeder label. Issa and AK also address comparisons between the Beast Coast movement and the Native Tongues collective, the importance of visuals to draw the attention of fans, and spiritual and intellectual advancement in the internet age, resulting in an interview which exemplifies the self-awareness that The Underachievers communicate through their music.

Bom.K X Pakone X Wen2.

This week, we didn’t spot two murals that looked the same on the international street-art-sphere. The piece above is produced by Bom.K X Pakone and Wen2. Bom.K is back in Brest, France following his solo exhibition in Paris.

2501 painted this mural in Los Angeles, USA. The Italian artist used his signature monochromatic lines combined with gold to create an abstract illusion of depth. This piece is on Imperial Street in Downtown LA.

Pez

Pez and his charming smiles arrived in Koln, Germany.

Vinz

VinZ recently completed this wall called “Allegoria della Primavera Valenciana” last week during “Poliniza” Urban Art Festival at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Seth

Seth  recently completed this mural in Paris, France.

Hyuro

Hyuro  and her taste for multiplicity has dropped in Copenhagen, Denmark. In her poetic piece, Hyuro tells the story of a deer moving from light into obscurity and emerging, a changed deer on the other side of the light.

Phlegm

Phlegm, who is pretty much featured every week in our “Best of the week”, produced another memorable piece in London, UK.

Steve and Dorota Coy from Hygienic Dress League recently completed the mural above on the streets of Cleveland, Ohio.

Fintan Magee

Fintan Magee is back in Newtown where he just completed this new piece. The artist has a talent for depicting youthful Oras. He yet again successfully transports his viewer into a compelling childish universe.

Aryz (above) worked on a collaboration with David Choe in L.A. You can clearly distinguish the American’s artist surrealistic style colliding with the Aryz‘s creepy world.

Invader

Last time we heard from Invader he was pasting a mosaic of Spider-man onto the Parisian landscape. The French artist now dropped a new work in London depicting another hero, Luke Skywalker, chilling out with his father, Darth Vader.

Ben Slow & Mear One

Ben Slow and Mear One worked on a politically charged collaboration for the streets of San Francisco. The two street artists portrayed Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan in a light that acknowledges their shadier dealings.

Jack TML

The incredible Israeli artist Jack TML was recently in Germany to paint an indoor piece somewhere in Munich. His figurative work is charged with feelings of distance and proximity.

Aryz, prior to his collaboration with David Choe, worked on a gigantic mural in San Francisco. The Barcelona-based artist worked on merging the insides and outsides of his female character using his signature color pallet.

Stik is currently honoring the Chichester Street Art Festival  alongside Run & Phlegm. Working with his minimalistic stick figures, the British artist produces a piece that creates movement through subtlety.
