After six months of recouping, strategizing, and taking a break from the music scene, Canadian rapper Kordoroy Floyd has returned with a new single “Free”. As this is his first coming of the year, it is the perfect follow up to his 2018 self-titled debut album, Kordoroy Floyd. This release a perfect offering of his raw talent, unique story telling, and creativity which is felt throughout.

Produced by up and coming beat maker Zlender, this song is a straight bop. The ethereal, harmonious melody, is a perfect fit over Floyd’s raw and authentic bars. The original sound you will hear, is an ode to his Canadian roots with a hip hop undertone.

Some notable lyrics from this song are “Don’t say you bout it, when you ain’t bout it, yea really it get on my nerves, n****s be weirdos they tossin a pillow, when they gon learn”. He does a good job of firing off punchline after punchline as the chorus melts into his verses.

One of the most unique things about Canadian artists is their diverse upbringing. This is the same for Floyd. As an African growing up in Vancouver, he discovered early on the power in using your voice to breakdown barriers. His confident tone of voice showcases his desire to be great way beyond securing a bag. When asked what this record meant to him, the MC said it reminded him to never settle for fame over fortune.

“This record is my Audio coffee! Wakes me up. It’s really about killing all the doubt and fear in my mind and reminding myself I’m literally the best kept secret with this music, unapologetically African and I’ll never settle for clout over dollars. Ain’t shit Free!” The strong message he is sending through this material, is something many music enthusiasts can relate to.

As he has already received praise from the likes of Kendrick Lamar, Kid Ink, Onyx and Kaskade, this talented artist is ready for the big leagues. He is currently working on his forthcoming EP Chasing Ghost scheduled for release later this year. Until then, press play below to stream Kordoroy Floyd’s “Free” single.

After the past couple of months, #TheSet decided to deliver some heat. Just this past week he released “Free” and “Joyride”, two tracks that will kick your summer straight into gear. Since he was in high school, he’s been developing a “trap R&B” sound, and it seems as if he’s found his sound.

“Free” sends you off into a fantasy land of your wildest dreams and ultimate free will. Additionally, it gives you a glimpse of how he thinks and feels toward society. Furthermore, “Joyride” is strictly for the Ladies. This track provides the perfect vibe for those late summer nights with that special lady you’ve been dying for. These two tracks were just the start for what’s to come for 2018. After being in the studio with artist such as Tricky Stewart, Dallas Austin, and Grammy Award winning producer Needlez, I’m sure #TheSet will have the rest of the year on smash! Check these tracks out and let us know what you think!

Trinidad Jame$ interestingly enough drops his album No One Is Safe for free. The “All Gold Everything” rapper has returned and releases his album which is filled with his known discordant style of flows. The album includes features from iLoveMakonen, Migos‘ Offset, Peewee Longway, and more. Jame$ starts with “I ain’t thirsty for a hit, nigga, f*ck your feature” hinting at he has a change of heart about how he feels about getting features for plays. Stream No One Is SaFe below:

Back in November, BET announced that 106 & Park will go off the air in December and will move to a digital format. So in honor of the show’s last televised episode, we composed a list of ten of the show’s most memorable moments. Time to take a trip down memory lane.

10.) August Alsina Spazzes on Keisha

August Alsina made an appearance on the show to promote his debut album, Testimony. Before the interview started, August asked for no questions regarding the riff between he and Trey Songz. Newly hired co-host, Keisha, completely disregarded his request and asked him about the beef anyways. Which soon followed was one of the most memorable moment on the show in recent years.

9.) Free and Beyonce do the “Uh Oh” Dance

Beyonce had the entire world doing the “Uh Oh” dance with her hit “Crazy in Love”. So when she came to the show to premiere the song’s video, former host, Free, wanted to learn how to properly do the dance. Needless to say she had it down on the first try.

8.) Bow Wow and Tyra Banks kiss

Another recent memory came last year when model Tyra Banks and “Mr. 106 & Park”, Bow Wow, shared a somewhat passionate kiss on camera. This wasn’t the first time these two lip-locked, they also kissed on The Tyra Show.

7.) Lil’ Wayne admits that he and Birdman kiss

We all have seen the picture, but few remember when Lil’ Wayne confessed that he and Birdman do in fact kiss each other. Free asked Birdman about how it feels to kiss girls with his grills in his mouth. Before Birdman could even answer, Lil’ Wayne said “I’m the only one he kisses!”. Things went from 0 to awkward real quick.

6.) Michael Jackson’s death

Many remember where they were when they heard the news of Michael Jackson‘s untimely death. The whole world was in complete shock, including former hosts Terrence J and Rocsi. Though they were at a loss for words, the two still had to break the devastating news on live television.

5.) Tom Cruise does the “Motorcycle” dance

Back in 2006, 106 & Park had a special episode for the premiere of Mission Impossible III. Tom Cruise came on stage and did the then popular “motorcycle” dance. Although Tom didn’t get the dance all the way down, it still made for great television.

4.) Aaliyah’s last interview

Four days before traveling to the Bahamas to film her “Rock the Boat” video, Aaliyah paid a visit to the 106 couch to talk about the video and song. Sadly, Aaliyah passed away in a plane crash following the video shoot. This interview is special moment because it was ultimately her final interview.

3.) Rocsi walks off during a live show

There were times where some 106 & Park hosts didn’t get along. One time in particular was when Rocsi walked off during the show. During the entire show, Terrence J was making fun of Rocsi and constantly pointing out her mistakes. Eventually she had enough and walked off the set during the show. The two went on to host shows separately for awhile until singer Mario read a nice apology letter written by Terrence. Everything went back to normal soon after.

2.) AJ and Free emotional farewell

Obviously, one of the saddest moments in the show’s history was when AJ and Free said they were leaving 106 & Park. Everyone remembers the emotional announcement that the original hosts were moving on from the show. Free was not on the set, but AJ had her on speakerphone so she could say her goodbyes. (Unfortunately there isn’t a video clip on the Internet)

1.) Michelle Williams trips and falls

Arguably the best and most memorable moment was when Michelle Williams tripped and fell during Destiny’s Child’s performance of “Solider”. What made things even funny was how both Kelly and Beyonce completely ignored Michelle and continued with the performance. Of course, the Internet was full of GIFs of Michelle’s tumble.

Do you agree with our list? What was your favorite moment from 106 & Park? Let us know in the comment section below.

In a unique move, Long Island natives De La Soul are offering up their entire catalog for free starting today. All seven of the group’s albums can be downloaded through their website until tomorrow afternoon. “It’s about allowing our fans who have been looking and trying to get a hold of our music to have access to it,” Posdnuos told Rolling Stone. “It’s been too long where our fans haven’t had access to everything. This is our way of showing them how much we love them.”

For fans who may not have enough free cash flow to cop all the albums and may have too much of a conscious to access them illegally, this is quite the gift. This may also be a new path for older groups to get discovered by the younger generation. You can head over to their website to grab all the LPs guilt free.
