When nostalgia meets the present you get the Renaissance of hip-hop through East Orange, NJ native Blaze the Rebel. From humble beginnings attending music production classes at Newark Tech High, rather than stressing over marks in school, he’s now releasing music to the masses and leaving his own mark in hip-hop. In the case of his single & video “Flash Rap 2.0,” produced by IamJkeys, you might come for the colorful mixed media visual but you’re most definitely staying for Blaze’ breakneck bars. The young boy really got that gift.

The Jersey spitter seems to posses an impressive quality as an artist, the ability to switch flows up—not from song to song, but within the same verse— without a beat drop or moment’s notice. Millennials with diminishing attention spans command artists to combine various sounds and delivery that an emcee may have traditionally saved for different songs on a project, instead Blaze displays that he has every intention on keeping fans interested with the heat he drops.

As a plus, the colorful animation is successful in elevating an already vivid record and adding the tone of hip-hop whimsy (if such a thing exists) with a vibe reminiscent of Chris Brown’s 2009 album, Graffiti. At the young age of 19, he has become a staple in the breeding grounds of NJ and owns his own media company that has worked with some of the best talent in the tri-state.

Get familiar with his immediate team which consists of producer IamJkeys and singer/rapper Alvine, collectively form The Rebel Clan. A group of young fly hardworking artists that have their eyes set on pushing the envelope in the industry. Rebel mentality? More like a rebel movement.

Peep the visual above and feel free to show love…
