Curren$y has been in the studio a lot recently working on his upcoming new album, which drops sometime this year. With yesterday being 4/20, he decided to drop a brand new mixtape titled The Fo20 Massacre. The 14-song project features the likes of Wacko, T.Y., Corner Boy P and Fiend.

You can expect Spitta’s new album — titled The Motion Picture Soundtrack — to drop soon. Until then, roll up and listen to the tape down below. Jet Life ’til the next life, fool.

After a busy week of fresh leaks, I-20 has dropped The Amphetamine Manifesto Part Two in its entirety. The project is hosted by DJ Pain 1 and DJ Far. Production is handled by the likes of the aforementioned DJ Pain 1, Dirty Dunnz, Miles Sloan and Trakksounds. The ten track deep project’s lone guest appearances come from Fiend and Big Sant. Let’s get into it. Here’s this week’s Mixtape Madness!

Lil B, P.Y.T.

Another day, another Lil B mixtape. The twenty-seven tracks range from f**k the police anthems (“F**k The Ops”) to R&B slow tunes (“Marry Me”). B is weird and that is what makes his lengthy mixtapes worthwhile. Production from The Alchemist adds to the tape’s appeal. #THANKYOUBASEDGOD

Standout track: “F**k The Ops”

Fiend, Lil Ghetto Boy

Fiend is not “lil.” He’s got a deep-voiced delivery a la Killer Mike or Bun B, and an impressively smooth flow. It makes sense that he is signed to Jet Life Recordings. From the soulful production to his marijuana-friendly rhymes, he falls in line with Jet Life general Curren$y. Aside from its immense length–22 tracks–Lil Ghetto Boy plays like an album. This solid release hopefully is a sign that Fiend is on the come up after grinding for so long. 

Standout track: “The Coolest”

Chayo Nash, Sex, Drugs & Sushi

Chayo Nash is the rap game’s Ke$ha. He’s eccentric, especially in his over-emphasized delivery. At his core, he’s frat rap, but not cliche or annoying (i.e. Chiddy Bang or NaPalm). The tape’s trap-like production couples well with his hedonistic narrative. As the tape’s title implies, it’s all about fun

Standout track: “Bass Bitch”

The Rangers, Golden

Fun fact: The Rangers popularized “jerkin.” With that said this, LA trio made an enjoyable, albeit lengthy, tape. It’s heavy on the hyphy sound (duh) but the tape also includes Auto-Tune crooners, and turned-up club bangers. The tape’s appeal fluctuates throughout but it’s good overall. Plus it has a song named “Supa Freaks”.

Standout track: “Push It”

Tayyib Ali, Keystone State Of Mind 2

“Still independent and I’m ’bout to make it happen,” rhymes Tayyib Ali on “Gone.” His tape shows why he’s so confident: Keystone State Of Mind 2 is good. The batch of beats Ali chose for this tape compliment his natural and relaxed flow. His hook game is pretty good too: peep “We Got It.” The second Keystone State of Mind is a big step forward from its two year-old prequel. It seems Ali has found his voice and can finally begin making the music that best reflects him.

Strap, All In

Strap is fun so that is what this tape is all about. He follows the same formula as other ratchet rappers: several strip club bangers and multiple turned-up tracks. He’s at his best when it comes to hooks: “All We Do Iz Ball” will become a mantra among you and your friends. Sure, everyone is on this trap-ratchet wave, and Strap does not offer much different, but he can still some dope songs.

Earlier this week Fiend got together with Jet Life Recordings‘ frontman to deliver this new record “Wonderful.” This duet goes in on the soulful offering, but to be honest the topics they hit on are a little played out. Still Curren$y and Fiend deliver some nice verses over the smooth production courtesy of producer RJ2. No word on where this joint will end up, but it’ll do just fine on its own in the meantime. On Wednesday the “Jet Life Tour: Direct Flight” made its stop in Chicago, and those who made the trip rocked out with several hundred Chicago faithful. Corner Boy P, Fiend, Mikey Rocks, Trademark, Roddy and last but not least the Spitta himself graced Metro’s storied stage in front of a raucous crowd. The place was packed, but this wasn’t an uncontrolled mob. To put it bluntly these people were here to see one of New Orleans’ finest, and they weren’t about to fuck that up.

One thing was clear, the buzz in the building was palpable. Patrons continued to pack into Metro’s main floor and balcony for almost an hour after the start of the show, but when Curren$y’s set started the crowd took their energy to another level. Most rappers have to resort to the tired, old “throw your hands up” pump up, but Curren$y’s fans know what’s expected of them.

To be fair by the time the Jet Life front man reached the stage it was hard to discern between the smoke from the crowd and what was coming from backstage. Nevertheless, when the DJ dropped “Elevator Musik” the venue went into full party mode. “We only two songs in, but this shit is like a wrestling match” Curren$y said. Not a complete exaggeration, but the electricity running through the building was unreal.

For all of you out there wondering if this tour is worth your time and money, you’re not just going to get a series of tracks from the New Orleans-bred emcee. This show is about that whole damn catalog y’all. Pilot Talk, Pilot Talk II, Muscle Car Chronicles and Verde Terrace all got some play, but that’s just naming a few. This attention to detail and work ethic is what gets the seats filled for Spitta’s shows. The man is willing to work for his fans, plain and simple. Ain’t nothing to it, Just Enjoy This Shit.
