New Video: Raury featuring Malik Shakur – “Fly”

Back in January, Raury became one of many entertainers to respond to the unfortunate events in that occurred in Ferguson, Missouri, last summer. “Fly” is a song that the Atlanta artist penned almost immediately after learning that officer Darren Wilson wouldn’t be charged in the killing of 18 year-old Michael Brown. Joining him on this moving track, that now has a visual, is Malik Shakur, who is the nephew of Assata Shakur. Take a second to check out “Fly” and remember, #BlackLivesMatter.

Premiere: Bryant Stewart – “SCRATCHPAD” (Prod. By KUDDIE FRESH)

Bryant Stewart, a lyricist/singer/producer who lives in the now infamous Ferguson, Missouri, blesses us with a KUDDIE FRESH-produced record, “SCRATCHPAD.” Throughout KUDDIE’s jazz-like instrumentals, Stewart speaks on everyday conflicts in his city and not being a product of his harsh environment.

Last year (2014), Stewart dropped eightshadesofgrAy : The Preface EP, which precedes the LP eightshadesofgrAy (8SOG) –coming soon. Rising artist Bryant wants his message to be heard through his music.

“He speaks with the voice of a young man who understands the wrongs and injustices surrounding him and is not afraid to speak his mind, but also understands the plight of those just trying to build a life and be an individual while doing so.”

The rising artist stands at the podium with all eyes on him and his city, ready to offer his view on the world he lives, and what it could be.

As tensions rise and protests continue on, so does the number of entertainers supporting the Michael Brown movement. Nelly , who is from St. Louis, Missouri, visited Ferguson to vocalize his frustrations over the senseless killing of another young African American male teenager. Sporting a #MikeBrown t-shirt, Nelly marched alongside the Ferguson residents and persuading the crowd to protest peacefully.

Photos of The Day: J.Cole and Dreamville Visit Ferguson, Missouri

In the wake of the tragic murder of Mike Brown, J.Cole and the Dreamville crew took the time to visit Ferguson, Missouri to pay their respects. J.Cole can be seen expressing his concerns with protesters and Captain Ron Johnson. The visit comes shortly after the release of his single, “Be Free,“ which is dedicated to the teenager that was murdered just last weekend. Cole also took a moment to visit the exact place where Brown was gunned down by a Ferguson officer. It’s great to see the hip-hop community come out to support and bring awareness to situations such as this. Now is the time to put words into action in order to save some of these young men’s lives and to make sure that tragic events such this never occur again Props to Cole and Dreamville.
