This one feels like classic D.C.

In the midst of the city’s own Hip-Hop renaissance, artists within the ‘Nation’s Capital’ and surrounding areas have been allowing in influences from other cities like Atlanta — diluting D.C.’s sound. It’s why Fatz Da Big Fella‘s 2016 release This Is It was so important to the local culture: it provided a progression of music without losing it’s own DNA (another reason why this project shouldn’t be his last!).

With that said, Fatz continues the album’s momentum with a new visual for “Trap House,” one of its hardest-hitting cuts that sees production from The Directors and features fellow District legends Anwan “Big G” Glover (aka Slim Charles from The Wire) and Girard St. Garvey. With Big G on the hook, Fatz and Garvey obliterate the track with prison bars about all facets of street life.

Following the infectious single “Ok Ok”, D.C.’s Fatz Da Big Fella is back with a new single for the streets — the hard-hitting “Several,” which features Young Thug’s protégé/YSL Records artist (Lil) Duke and sees production from The Chemist. As usual, both artist bring the heat to the bass-heavy cut, brought together with the help of Duke’s straight-to-the-point, slightly-haunting hook:

Maison Margiela, my closet got several
Christian my Louboutin went to Coachella
Flew out to D.C., met Fatz Da Big Fella
I know real snipers and I know real rebels
Wrong or right, my n***as gon’ ride where ever
Keep poppin’ these percocets, dancin’ with devils

It’s the latest to be taken from Fatz’ recent release This Is It, which features additional appearances from Sauce Walka, Stalley, Eastman, Reesa Renee, Big G and more.

Make no mistake: Washington, D.C. (and the surrounding area) has been creating some great Hip-Hop this year, much in part thanks to leading stars like Wale, Logic and Kingpen Slim as well as rising stars like Jay IDK. The latest comes from Fatz Da Big Fella, an artist who’s both made a name for himself as a multi-talented businessman as well as an emcee, which has earned him various co-signs from the likes of French Montana, J. Prince and countless others. Formerly, he was a member of Wale’s The Board Administration and had a hand in the creation of various hits under that umbrella; now, he makes a “final” stand on his own with the new album, This Is It.

As Fatz’ official follow-up to 2014’s Fatz Sinatra, This Is It clocks in at 14 tracks — led by the infectious single “Ok Ok” — and features appearances from (Young Thug‘s artist and YSL member) Lil Duke, Sauce Walka, (Maybach Music’s) Stalley, Anwan “Big G” Glover (whom you might know as Slim Charles from the critically-acclaimed series The Wire), Reesa Renee and more. As far as the meaning behind the title, Fatz made his intentions clear:

For me, This Is It can mean two things, depending on the response to this project: either it takes me over the top to the next level of success, or I’m hanging it up after this. This is it, either way.
