This is nothing new to Boston’s venomous duo Blak Madeen – who dropped off the second release, “Guerrilla Soliders” from their forthcoming Supreme Aftermath LP. The song features Planet Asia on the introduction verse, with his usual wizard-like braggadocio and signature left coast sound. The production credit is given to The Arcitype, offering a brutal hospital trip. Get your insurance cards out.

If you’re just now hearing about Blak Madeen, it’s okay – we will let you slide this time. Consider taking a look at Islamic hatred in our country for a moment, and how we may not hear enough about the issue on this side of the fence. This is one of many reasons to explore their music. They fearlessly, and openly, discuss issues of this type, with pride and chins up. You will hear a lot this and related content throughout their forthcoming Supreme Aftermath LP, set for a January 15th release.

So, we went and found everything from traditional hip-hop to pop music. Basically any playlist in the world we want to have music on each and everyone. These artists with We Build Hits are actually talented and I am in direct connection with them everyday, so I see the talent daily. We believe in each and every artist here.”

There’s no arguing Billy Danze‘s stripes, patented sound and most importantly [RESPECT.] when mentioning hip-hop. 2000’s “Ante Up” still gets senior citizens and toddlers riled up. What do you get when the veteran handpicks a wide collection of artists to represent a movement? You guessed right – fire. ‘We Got It All Vol. 1’ is one for your digital collection – trust. “I have not heard any record from these cats that I didn’t like” Billy confidently states over Dj Spot‘s murderous, and almost addictive, intro cut. To avoid a confusingly fluffy review that we see published left and right, lets allow the music draw your own review:

‘We Got It All Vol. 1’ is as blunt and truthful as its title; they have it all. From Reign Major‘s roll-up-to, laid back “Best Thing Yet” to Tona‘s brutally honest “Lost”, this mix covers a lot of ground. How can you be mad at that? It’s more or less equivalent to throwing your iPod on shuffle, with trust that all 16 records will satisfy. Dj Spot did what he does best on the wheels, and blessed us with smooth transitions and quality mixing. We Got It All sort of echoes and gives an early Dj Clue or J-Love vibe when first listening front to back. We all love Clue and J-Love, come on. Billy Danze stated:

“Spot is one of those dudes that’s serious about hip-hop and knows how important it is to help spread it out. I’ve heard about him through the years and wanted to work with him a some level. So with both of our passions for the music of yesterday and today I felt it was only right to hook up and together start setting up the artists of tomorrow.”

Predominantly based in the states, We Build Hits has had success with their previous collaborative releases and moves. But what makes the “record company” special is the access of material per artist. They all do their own thing under this loose, respectful umbrella that Billy has crafted carefully. The freedom is profound, and it’s refreshing to see this small army do what they love while remaining drama/scheme free. After speaking with Billy on a few occasions about the company we can start to wrap our heads around the vision and the expectations moving forward. Koncept has been an underground staple for years now and a reliable member of the promising Brown Bag AllStars clique. Anyone who follows him or the AllStars can note, and agree, that Awaken and the Malt Disney Ep with J57 are go-to’s. Those projects really left an impression on fans and gave them a taste of what he is capable of with his solo career as well. You culd say on this remix of “Drop The Game” Koncept is exploring his own solo sound along side Flume and Chet Faker.

In a recent verbal exchange with RESPECT. Mag‘s Dread Solo, Koncept mentions “..I strive to grow as both a person and an artist every day. I’m inspired by all different kinds of music, and I wanted to show people a different style of mine before stepping into all the new releases as Koncept & J57..”

Moving forward, you can expect a lot of new work from Koncept & J57, as they recently introduced Kon57 Records to the masses. The anticipated “Jump“ (ft. Akie Bermiss) will be the first single from the two masterminds, followed by The Fuel Ep saga this coming spring. Also note they have some work coming your way with a little help from Red Bull. A few weeks ago during a tour stop in Australia, West Coast rapper, Ice Cube, decided to surprise those in attendance by playing the first trailer for N.W.A.‘s upcoming biopic, Straight Outta Compton. Luckily for Hip-Hop heads, a fan who was at the show used his cellphone to record the preview and uploaded it onto YouTube shortly thereafter. The motion picture documents the road to the stardom for the highly-controversial rap group, N.W.A., during the late 80’s to the early 90’s.

The film was directed by F. Gary Gray (who has also directed other hit movies such as Friday and The Italian Job) and stars Corey Hawkins (as Dr. Dre,) Jason Mitchell (as Eazy-E,) and O’Shea Jackson Jr. (as his father, Ice Cube.) Jackson Jr. was casted after his father was able to convince Universal executives that despite his son’s lack of acting experience, he would be able to rise up to the challenge. Fans will be able to determine for themselves if Jackson Jr. and the rest of the cast were able to successfully channel the legendary emcees when the movie hits theaters on August 14, 2015.
