The next chance to catch the young PUMA phenom will be Sunday, March 8th as the Lakers’ take on the highly-touted Los Angeles Clippers in their final regular-season matchup. In their last battle on Christmas Day, the Clippers came away with the victory but Kuzma stepped up leading the Lakers with 25 points on red-hot shooting.

With the new trend in professional sports being athletes sitting or kneeling during the National Anthem, fans and journalists have been questioning the acts of many players. Constantly, questions are being thrown around such as “Is it necessary to sit during the anthem?” or “Should you follow your beliefs or your country?”

Along with fans questioning the protest tactics, certain athletes have been asked questions about the movement Colin Kaepernick pioneered. Amongst many, one of the athletes that was asked for his opinion was Dwyane Wade of the Chicago Bulls. In an interview, Wade states “Actions speak louder than words you say. We have to continue to do things in our communities to try to raise the bar. The great thing about being an athlete today is you can make a stand for what believe in, and it’s OK.” Dwyane in other words is putting forth a challenge for the participants in this “protest” against the United States of America.

Dwyane Wade is showing his leaderships characteristics in a message such as this one. He is telling people that, while this protest is effective, it needs to be followed by the correct actions. He is trying to prevent contradicting actions to occur while the powerful message is being portrayed through this protest.

Wade also confronted the idea of police brutality. Wade stated in another interview: “I think police need to do a better job of communicating to the community of what they’re looking for and what they’re doing.” Dwyane Wade is making a political statement by being one of many to point out the flaws of the police department. Even though he is following Kapernick to a certain extent, Wade believes that the most important thing are the actions that follow the protest from the black community.
