After recently shouting “F*ck Skoo” at the top of his lungs, Donte Peace remains just as defiant while releasing his latest video for “Rebellious,” off his upcoming Black Babylon project.

And like the preceding dual single/video, the Brian Tolliver directed visuals for “Rebellious” finds the Seattle rapper diving into new territory, both musically and visually, with an approach that deftly mixes the most menacing parts of Houston chopped and screwed, Memphis horrorcore, and Compton G-funk. It makes for a drugged-out, drunk-as-hell sound, produced by TeekPunch, as Peace details his hedonistic lifestyle, and everything it encompasses.

As you may imagine, that includes a slurred laundry list of drugs and booze, blended with plenty of late-night run-ins with women. So when it comes to Peace repeating, “Hella f*ckin’ rebellious,” on the hook, you know damn well what he’s talking about. You’ll also likely get that phrase stuck in your head for days to come, with the track’s contact-high hangover fading just in time for next Friday’s release of Black Babylon. , which is now available for pre-order through all major digital retailers.

Seattle rapper Donte Peace embraces the dark side and gives absolutely zero fucks in his harrowing new video for “Fuck Skoo,” which is also the latest single off his upcoming project, Black Babylon.

The clip portrays the life of a man on the edge, willing to do whatever it takes (in this case, kidnapping and murder) to get what he feels is rightfully his. As Peace raps on the track, “Boy, I’m livin’ fast/ Fast livin’, probably never last/ ‘til then, I’ll be stackin’ cash.” Clearly, he knows death is creeping around the corner of his own existence, and it’s that mindset that’s led him to a downward spiral of crime and death.

The video is directed by A.K. Romero, who captures the menace and grit of “Fuck Skoo” with fast-moving visuals and borderline-disturbing settings. As for the track itself, the snarling instrumental was produced by 10Fold, who provides Peace with everything he needs to throw his middle-finger up at whoever’s listening (and watching).

“D.R.U.G.S.” is the gripping, powerful new single from the Seattle-based artist Donte Peace, who brilliantly captures the desire to turn to substances as a means of escaping the harsh realities of life. For some, chemical dependency is the only way to reduce the anxiety and grief that comes with police brutality, poverty, and other issues facing his community.

The track title actually stands for “Do Right Under God’s Sight,” a message that may seem preachy at first but is actually handled with down-to-earth, thoughtful commentary from Peace. He’s essentially looking to the sky throughout his verses as a means for finding, well, peace in a community ravaged by senseless death and crime. He also admits that, sometimes, drugs are the only out, the only way to free one’s mind of the pain.

Driving that mindset of hazy escapism is the atmospheric instrumental on “D.R.U.G.S.”, which was produced by Donte’s frequent collaborator, Maxtrax. Together, they crafted an eerie, cinematic track that’ll leave a lasting impact.
