Ruben D. Sosa Jr. professionally known as Citoonthebeat is an award-winning music producer hailing from Jersey City, NJ. Cito’s father, a music director of a local church nurtured his interest in music at a very young age. By the age of 6 he had learned to play the drums, and by the age of 12 he had learned to play the piano. In 2007 Cito opened his first recording studio where he developed his talent for music production.

Cito’s first major placement was in 2016 on Troy Ave’s single “Chuck Norris,” a successful record that occupied the airwaves of New York City during the summer of that same year. The following year he worked closely with DJ Mustard and YG on the studio album “Stay Dangerous,” which is now certified Gold by the RIAA. In 2019 Cito was recruited by label APG to produce a record titled “Case Closed” for Kevin Gate’s EP “Only the Generals Gon Understand.” That same year Cito debuted his first independent single “Familiar” featuring Tory Lanez, TJ Porter, and Suigeneris.

So, Travis Scott is killing the game right now via his latest album Astroworld, which dropped last Friday. Being the true artist, Scott still decided to gift his fans even more new music — one, “Dangerous World,” of which sees him alongside DJ Mustard and YG, who just released his own new album (Stay Dangerous). The other three were premiered alongside OG Chase B on the latest episode of .wav Radio on Apple Music: “Part Time,” “Zoom” (featuring Gunna) and “Houdini” (featuring Playboi Carti).

DJ and producer DJ Mustard has worked with everyone from Snoop Dogg, YG, Jamie Foxx, Jordin Sparks, French Montana, Rick Ross, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane, Nipsey Hussle and Young Jeezy.

When Mustard was 11 years old, his uncle, a DJ, let him DJ at a family party. He got his DJ name from the condiment dijon mustard because his first name is also Dijon.

With the Christmas holiday here, he let me know what his most memorable Christmas was: a CDJ music player for DJing.

UPDATE: YG just liberated another visual for “Pop It, Shake It,” which takes things from the carnival to the mansion….and it’s ultra-NSFW. That clip has been added below.

YG and DJ Mustard have to be somewhere in the history books as far as Hip-Hop’s greatest emcee-producer duos are concerned. Since the release of the now-classic My Krazy Life, both have remained in position as West Coast frontrunners; despite their rollercoaster relationship, it’s great to see that the two friends have remained solid.

Now, YG and Mustard are back with some heat: following the single release a couple of months ago, fans now get to check out the new visual for “Pop It, Shake It” which sees the artists living it up during Carnival festivities in Trinidad and Tobago. The clip comes courtesy of Director X and — among other appearances — features a cameo from exiled rapper Shyne. Of course, there’s plenty of fast-moving eye candy to see as well…if anything, “Pop It, Shake It” certainly seems inspired by New Orleans Bounce (think Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Mannie Fresh‘s “Back That Azz Up”).

Enjoy “Pop It, Shake It” below and pick up the single via iTunes. Hopefully, the long-awaited 400 Summers project (or any new YG album, for that matter) will arrive soon.
