Meek Mill

Even though some might be aware of the teaser videos Meek Mill uploaded to his Instagram last week, a few days ago fans finally got the first real glimpse into what Meek’s cooking up for 2015. With all this recent activity it wouldn’t at all be surprising to see Dreams Worth More Than Money dropping by late January to mid February, although the official album roll-out has yet to begin. Courtesy of DJ Funkmaster Flex and DreamChasers, “Ice Cream” and “The Get Back Freestyle” hit the web Friday night and were greeted with open arms. Meek’s been out of the game for a little longer than he hoped and with this type of attention from just two tracks, it really shows how happy the Hip-Hop community is to have him back in the studio.

“Ice Cream” is originally a Wu-Tang Clan classic, however Meek jumps on the beat to deliver his own branding. This track is gritty, aggressive and full of punchlines which is an area of rapping that Meek has certainly improved on since his last album. This is actually a nice joint as Meek isn’t as well known for hopping on classic or retro beats yet killed it regardless. Listen below.

After a throwback to Wu-Tang Clan, “The Get Back Freestyle” was the second track released Friday night and is definitely what fans are more used to from the Philly superstar. It’s catchy, with chimes and bells sitting innocently atop simple but dangerous sounding synths and bass. Unfortunately, this heater probably won’t make it on the official track list for his upcoming album. Even though this may be a throwaway track, the Hip-Hop community should still be excited.
