DJ Chose is a young Houston artist who’s worked with many of the vets in his hometown as a DJ, and he’s now focusing on his career as an artist, with excellent results thus far. He earned himself a hit last summer with “Everywhere I Go,” released on Think It’s A Game Records, and he’s since followed up with collabs with Akon as well writing credits for Trey Songz, Wale, etc. Today, Chose is back with his new single, “You,” which is the first track off his upcoming project, Prey They Ready.

One can hear the gritty Houston flavor in Chose’s voice when he wants to snap, but he’s also got a melodic flow and a natural singing voice that should be easily accessible for those unfamiliar with the Houston club sound. “You” is a heartfelt, romantic song dedicated to a woman from his past. “You defined a moment where I was in a relationship with someone who I identified as unique and special,” writes Chose of the song’s inspiration. “Since then we’ve parted ways, but the sentiment from that relationship lives within this song.” He lets all his feelings be known and still manages to come out with a smooth-riding summer party essential.
