Dionne Bromfield has been making rounds over the years as a singer, collaborating with acts such as:  Diggy Simmons, Mz Bratt, Lil Twist, and Tinchy Stryder, to name a few.

She has a soulful, vintage vibe to her and her sound has definitely matured over the years.  She started making noise around the young age of 13.  Now, at 19, Bromfield has had plenty of time to blossom as an artist.  Put this in perspective: she’s been trained by a legend of our era.  Bromfield is Amy Winehouse‘s goddaughter and protégé. You can hear Amy’s influence in her tone, but she definitely has her own unique sound.

The ballad, Black Butterfly, is a soulful tune that has you following her every note.  When people think of Amy, this song makes a beautiful tribute by the right person, her godbaby.  It was also co-written with hit-makers, Sia (Chandelier, Titanium, Rihanna – Diamond,  etc.) and Chris Braide (Christina Aguilera, Lana Del Rey, etc.).

I don’t know how true this statement is, but if it’s true, then that’s beautiful.

In December of 2014 Diggy Simmons dropped his track “Fall.” Almost four months later Diggy is back on his music ish with “Can’t Relate” featuring Yo Gotti. In this cut, Diggy uses his words of persuasion to let a young lady know that her current situation can’t relate to anything he could provide her, materialistic or otherwise. Yo Gotti spits similar game on his verse by letting his interest know how important to his him. Listen to the track below.

J. Cole looks really focused during this interview and appears to have an extra confidence about him. Though  “What You Say to Me” was released on April 1st, it wasn’t a joke. To provide some context for the J.Cole diss, Diggy stopped by KGGI 99.1 and elaborated on the issue. Apparently the song was made over a year ago and was leaked without his knowledge. That being said, Diggy owns up to it. Citing  “Family over everything,” a motto supported by his father, Diggy says that he made the track because J.Cole made some subliminal jabs at his sister Vanessa in “Purple Rain.” Watch the interview after the jump.

It’s no surprise that the son of Rev Run is talented, and he’s probably got the connections to back it up. Our memory of Run’s House has started to fade now and Diggy is really coming into his own–hard to believe the kid is about to be 17.
