James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond is in the headlines again, but for all the wrong reasons.

Rosemond, who was outed by Dexter Isaac last week as the man who paid him to rob Tupac Shakur in 1994, is in trouble for his role in a massive cocaine ring.  Rosemond was arrested in midtown Manhattan by federal agents, thus ending their two week search.  He appeared in Brooklyn federal court yesterday and plead not guilty to drug charges.  Rosemond is currently being held at the Metropolitan Department Correctional Facility in Brooklyn.

Yesterday, AllHipHop.com posted a letter from Dexter Isaac in which he claimed responsibility for shooting Tupac Shakur in a robbery two years before his death. Isaac additionally offered up Tupac’s former associate Jimmy “Henchman” Rosemond, stating that he paid Isaac $2,500 for the job. However, Rosemond’s Lawyer Jeffery Lichtman has rebuked Isaac’s claims. “It’s a flat-out lie,” he told the New York Daily News. “Dexter Isaac is not claiming this 17 years later to clear his conscience. He’s doing it because he’s told anybody who will listen he doesn’t want to die in prison. He has kids and wants to work off his sentence. He can’t be trusted.”

The shooting on November 30th, 1994, ignited a feud that lead to the murders of both Shakur and Biggie Smalls, neither of which has been solved to date.  Isaac claims that James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond paid him to carry out the task.  He chose to confess his guilt in order to prove Rosemond’s involvement and alleviate his own guilt.  Things have been further complicated by Rosemond’s subsequent fleeing seeing as he is currently under investigation for purported drug dealing.

Isaac’s account reads, “In 1994, James Rosemond hired me to rob 2Pac Shakur at the Quad Studio.  He gave me $2,500, plus all the jewelry I took…I still have as proof the chain that we took that night in the robbery.”
