After 11 years of drawn-out hype, legendary rapper and producer Dr. Dre has finally addressed the fate of Detox and announced the release date to his last album during his Beats 1 radio show, “The Pharmacy” on August 1.

Not pleased with the direction Detox was going in, Dre finally laid the anticipation for the project to rest by admitting that it, “wasn’t good enough.” Though the long awaited album will never be, the Compton producer did shed some light on his final project, Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, which drops August 7.

Inspired by the upcoming movie “Straight Outta Compton,” the 16-track LP will feature lyrical content from such artists as Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube and more.

Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre is now available for pre-order on iTunes and Apple Music. Check out the artwork and tracklist below:

In an interview on the Shots Fired podcast, former Aftermath producer Dawaun Porter shared some details that some have expected for a long time, but without much confirmation. According to Porter, Dr. Dre has long-since killed the Detox album. However, that’s not to say the West Coast legend doesn’t still have an album in the works. Porter says Dre came up with a new album title a couple of years ago and has been perfecting that one. Given his new relationship with Apple and U2’s recent album drops, could we be seeing that album released in similar (maybe even surprise) fashion? Only time will tell. Watch the full clip below.

50 Cent sat down with the Breakfast Club crew again for an epic, hour-long interview. Curtis touched on everything from being on Diddy’s Revolt TV, the rift in G-Unit, Dr. Dre, and so much more. 50 went on to state that he feels Detox will never see the light of day because if it fails it will damage the Beats brand.
In a recent interview for Yo! Raps Magazine, Bay Area veteran Too $hort opened up about his work on Detox.

I’ve been in the studio doing lots of stuff. I recorded a solo album that should be dropping maybe in January, around the Holidays. I’ve been trying to get it out this year, but I decided it wasn’t worth rushing it. But it’s coming. It’s a pretty good album. I did some songs with 50 Cent, new stuff with Snoop Dogg. I have another song, if and when Dre puts Detox out, a song I did with him that’s probably going to make it. I’m hoping that’s true.

That’d be awesome.

It’s a pretty good damn song too. Some super hot shit. I haven’t really done anything with Dre before.

Too $hort went on to praise Lil B – who, by the way, you can check out in our latest issue – though not without expressing bewilderment over Beezy‘s viral onslaught.

Yeah, Lil B, I keep tabs on him. It’s a little way out there with the tweets, and the one million songs, I can’t keep up with all of it, but I know the story of the Based God, the controversy. He’s doing it, and it’s cool because lately I’m hearing about him doing international shows, and going worldwide. That’s a good look if you ask me.

Look out for $hort Dog‘s upcoming album, No Trespassers, which is still without an official drop date.
