David Dallas Drops “Fit In” Visual [WATCH]

Hate it or love it, but foreign rappers—outside of Canada—are doing their thing.

Within two years, internationals like Skepta, Stormzy, and Lady Leshurr have crossed into American mainstream music with their distinct styles.

New Zealand rapper David Dallas is on the same path. Fresh off the release of his fourth studio album Hood Country, David drops the visual to “Fit In.”

At this point, David is fed up with the pretentious behavior in today’s culture.

He makes it clear he’s done trying to fit in and addresses Drake trolls by defending the YMCMB artist.

Produced by Styalz Fuego and Nic M, “Fit In,” is one of the leading songs on Hood Country.

Following its debut, “Fit In” rose to #2 on the New Zealand Spotify chart and garnered over six million streams.

The single also features vocals from British newcomer, Laurent John.

After signing to Duck Down Records in 2011, David released The Rose Tint EP.

Videos for EP singles “Take a Picture” and “Caught in a Daze” featuring Freddie Gibbs received fair rotation on American MTV. David’s toured with Run The Jewels and has also opened for Eminem.

New Video: David Dallas feat. Ruby Frost – “The Wire” (prod. Fire & Ice)

Kiwis stand together. For his latest single, New Zealand rapper David Dallas teams up with fellow New Zealand musician Ruby Frost for a stirring reflection on the dangers of meeting your goals and ascending through the ranks. This is an anxiety and an experience encountered by all talented individuals who are recognized for their skills, but Dallas manages to avoid lame generalities and emphasize his particular encounter and his particular response. Ruby Frost engages with Fire & Ice‘s gut-wrenching instrumental a little more closely than Dallas, but the overall result is phenomenal nonetheless. It has a slight twinge of trip-hop to it, but that’s never a bad thing. Watch it below.

Combining their smooth, confident flows and shared penchants for pop culture references, the pair unites on “My Mentality,” a subdued track that alludes to AZ‘s legendary verse from Nas‘ “Life’s a Bitch.” Listen below as the pair restores your faith in the power of random collaborations.

Dallas’ upcoming album Falling into Place, is due out this fall.

New Video: David Dallas – “Till Tomorrow” (Remix)

David Dallas has released an animated music video for his track entitled “Till Tomorrow.” It’s quite the summer boost. The original 2011 cut was pretty tight, though the re-mastered version has more of a jovial beat. With a track so similar to the original one, we could have hoped for different visuals, or maybe different lyrics, but the song remains good nonetheless. Dallas covers topics ranging from internet trolls to the unfairness of life itself. M-Phazes brings a vibrant groove to the remix; the lively guitar gives the song a cheerful tune.
