Driven by a warm and mutually supportive base of music fans, The DJ Grid has proved to be a blend of top notch creators, celebrity DJs, and music executives under one roof. With a network that produces millions of impressions monthly, The DJ Grid uses modern methods and cutting edge technology to distribute and promote each body of work.

The DJ Grid is mostly known for their popular compilation series which has dominated the Billboard charts numerous times. They’ve broken records for stars like Missy Elliott, Cam’ron, Sean Kingston, Lil Baby, Ed Sheeran, Damian Marley, and Sean Paul just to mention a few. The DJ Grid has previously released three #1 Billboard albums – including Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica, Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica (Deluxe), and Tropical House Cruises to Jamaica (Reloaded). They’ve also had Top 25 Billboard charting success with their World Hip Hop Compilation series – World Hip Hop Unleashed Vol. 1 & Vol. 2.

The 50/50 album by The DJ Grid was released 4/20 on Walmart.com exclusively and sold out in 24 hours. The coalition linked up with various artists to drop this collaborative album, 50/50. The album was first announced in early 2020 and was distributed three months later. The 50/50 album consists mostly of Hip Hop and Rhythm & Blues songs and the 20-track project marks The DJ Grid’s return, following a short absence in terms of albums releases.

This was highly-anticipated. During last night/this morning’s episode of Saturday Night Live, undisputed KONY Jay-Z took to the stage as this week’s musical guest. Sported a Colin Kaepernick jersey (because why not?), Hov and collaborator Damian Marley performed a rousing rendition of the 4:44 cut “Jam,” complete with camouflage background and Ethiopian flag. Watch that above.

Below, you can enjoy him performing “4:44” on a stripped-down set. Simply put, the man didn’t disappoint on an episode that also made sure to address Trump being Trump (watch those recap clips via SNL‘s YouTube).

Watch the entire episode (hosted by Ryan Gosling) here.

JAY-Z has added a new video to his visual collection from his latest project 4:44.

The latest video, “BAM,” answers the questions surrounding the picture that surfaced of Hov and Jamaican MC Damian Marley back in June. The video, directed by Rohan Blair-Mangat and shot in Jamaica, features both artists walking down the streets of Kingston, working in the studio, and key shots from around the island.

The Sister Nancy sampled track, also brought out the Reggae legend herself as she makes an appearance explaining how the iconic Reggae hit “Bam Bam” was initially just a “freestyle.”

“It was a freestyle,” Sister Nancy said. “Bam Bam was just a freestyle, I didn’t write it. My music isn’t going anywhere, it’s timeless. Like with “Bam Bam” even after I am gone where I am supposed to go it will still be here.”

In the Tidal exclusive video, Damian is seen giving Hov a lesson on music and its influence in Jamaica and the impact that his father, Bob Marley, had on the genre crossing over to the United States.

In June during an interview with Billboard, Marley seemingly confirmed that Hov is, in fact, working on new music. Marley tells the publication that he gave Hov a “musical tour around Jamaica.”

“We did some work in the studio recently and he wanted to come to Jamaica to get a tour of the place,” Marley tells Billboard over the phone. “He’s been to Jamaica before, but never Kingston. So he wanted to come down to Kingston and asked us if we could have been there to show him around and give him a tour musically, in terms of our history in Kingston.”

Jr. Gong is back with his first official (solo) album in 12 years. Following the 2005 classic Welcome To Jamrock, Damian Marley preps for the release of his fourth studio release Stony Hill (named after Marley’s old stomping grounds, situated north of Kingston). First off, the Jamaican artist delivers a new track and visual from the project titled “R.O.A.R.”

In the song’s clip, Jr. Gong looks out from a warehouse at the goings on taking place on the street below him…viewers also see a woman dancing in white dust, a boxer at work and other scenes matching Marley’s words beautifully. The message of the song is powerful (as always), which Marley breaks down to The FADER:

“R.O.A.R.” is really speaking about how, in Jamaica, what we call rudeboys always had a responsibility to the community. They would be the safekeepers — the people who keep the community safe from other areas or within itself. That’s kind of changed over the years, especially with younger kids growing up without elders. This song is about reminding them of those values.

Enjoy R.O.A.R. below…Stony Hill drops 21st July (Marley’s 39th birthday); forthcoming European tour dates can be found on Marley’s official website. Previously, he worked with Nas on 2010’s Distant Relatives and formed the mega-group SuperHeavy alongside Joss Stone, Mick Jagger, Dave Stewart and A. R. Rahman the following year.
