My fandom was confirmed when I saw her live, because she sounds just like she does on wax. She can actually sing, fam.

Not too long ago, Meg snagged fellow Columbus native and rapidly rising emcee Correy Parks, for her latest single, “I Think They Know”. With Meg handling the production herself — as she’s known to do — she and Correy compliment each other perfectly, as they attempt to explore the phenomenon that is love.

“The meaning behind the song is wondering whether love is an expressly human phenomenon or not. Although we are aware that other species experience emotions in a somewhat similar capacity (e.g. dogs), the idea of human emotions, specifically human love, transcending our own home planet is a wild and exciting notion.”, Meg explains. “I explore this possibility within the limits of my own brand of love, wondering if its strength could serve as an indicator of its existence to extraterrestrial species. However, note that throughout the song I never fully assert that they know, only that I think they know. Human love is a flawed and fearful beast; when it has me completely open and vulnerable I am rendered uncertain.”

Every now and then a song or a project or whatever drops and I’m like “Yo, that’s dope! I’m gonna post it!” Then I get so swamped with all the other stuff I have going on, and I completely forget.

That’s what happened here.

Take a listen to “I Think They Know”, below.

However, the wait is almost over, as we are exactly one week away from the drop, which to this point has been preceded by quite the amount of momentum.

Earlier this week, via The Fader, the Columbus emcee premiered his latest single for the Yogi Split-assisted “On Our Way”, an ambitious new song that reeks of self-realization. With lines like “I know we gonna find a way/And when we get it, we gon’ get it in the finest way”, Correy makes it clear that dreams will be fulfilled, hard work will pay off and the fruits of his and his team’s labor will be celebrated.

“‘On Our Way’ is about the stretch of life’s journey, where we discover that the power to create our own reality is in our hands. It’s about knowing that there will be fears, hardships, and lessons learned along the way, but it will all be worth it once we prevail”, Correy explained. “You will find unexpected partnerships in some amazing people. People who are equally positive and have similar visions of success will only help you reach your destination if you let them.”

Correy Parks is on his way, indeed. Take a listen to his latest offering, below and make sure you snag a copy of The Road Less Traveled, March 25th.

In case you’ve been under some kind of rock, Columbus emcee Correy Parks has been putting in work, making quite the case as one of the best rhymesayers in the Midwest. Check out the Reallyraw-produced “Payday” below, and get hip to Correy Parks before the bandwagon pulls up (because at this rate, it definitely will).

Keeping his Lost Luggage series rolling along, Correy Parks, along with Ohio-Streets.com and hafandhaf, is back with another joint for us all to enjoy. Inspired by Drake’s infectious hit, “Days in the East”, as well as a visit to his native land of Korea, Correy drops off “Days in the Far East”, continuing to make a very strong case as someone to watch out for from not only the Midwest, but in all of hip-hop. Step your bars up, because Correy is; and he doesn’t appear to be slowing down any time soon.

If you’re familiar with Correy Parks’ latest EP, The Layover (and you should be), then “Alone Again” is probably one of your favorite tracks from the project. With Cameron Granger behind the lens, Correy gives us a short film that chronicles the motions he goes through after losing his job. Everything you lose isn’t a loss though, as Correy and Cameron almost flawlessly exemplify that in this clip. Check out the teaser below and stay tuned for the full visual.
