Colonel Loud– name presumably an homage to marijuana and its many healing qualities- comes through with his “Dope Boy Anthem” (DBA for short), and pays his respects to the very street life which churns out music such as this.

“You don’t wanna fall off, You don’t wanna fall victim/Gotta ball ’til you fall, Get a million then flip them” raps Loud, who’s for sure seen the grittiness of moving weight and its ups and downs having hustled in the street life prior to rapping. As quoted on his website:

“A lot of artists try to tell everybody else’s story to please other folks or create an image that’s not true to who they are. People see through that. I rap about what I know and that’s why people connect with me as an entertainer. I entertain people but it’s based on personal experiences; I spit the real.”

Not all is grime and grit for Loud of course, as “DBA” surely has the underlying message of “hustle hard, yet recognize what it is you’re doing, and be safe with it.” On “Celebrate,” released a while back, he even talks about the good life; “You keep seeing or hearing about kids getting killed in the streets and being a father, it’s war out here. And then you got just the everyday drama we all deal with, so this song is to remind people the importance of staying positive and strong in spite of the BS.”

“DBA” comes off Plug Talk 2, which you can get here, and be sure to follow Colonel Loud on Twitter as well.
