The mid-season finale of The Flash showed us the past, present and the future of many of our characters.

The episode kicked off with a look into Julian’s past and took us to The Indus Valley 4 years earlier. Julian was searching for Savitar and he sets him free when he discovers the Brum Astra aka The Philosopher’s Stone. An ancient Hindu artifact. The same artifact Dr. Alchemy uses. The team slowly unravels the mystery of Dr. Alchemy and seek out Julian’s help as he wrote the paper about the stone. Barry hopes he can help the team figure out what the stone is and how it gets its power. Julian tells Barry that he never found the stone and wasted all his inheritance money. He then warns Barry to move on from Savitar.

Later on Iris tells Barry that she did some digging on Julian and his expedition. Turns out the 4 scientists he was traveling/working with died during the voyage. Left with many questions and zero answers, Barry heads to Earth 3 to speak to The Flash aka Jay Garrick about Savitar. Barry interrupts his battle with The Trickster and captures the villain for Jay. Jay then tells Barry everything he knows about Savitar.

Savitar was the first man granted speed and over time he became the fastest man of all. His m.o. is to send a predecessor to the world he is going to before he finally presents himself. In Barry’s case this predecessor is Alchemy. Savitar is preparing for battle against Barry as his powers are threatening his own power.

Jay agrees to come back to Earth with Barry and gives him some friendly advice. He tells Barry to live in the present and appreciate what he has right now. Forget about Savitar, live in the moment and enjoy the time while he still has it.

Just as Barry and the team are beginning to settle into holiday festivities, Savitar summons Julian and the real action begins. Jay and Barry team up and go after Alchemy who is trying to restore all the power of the metas from flashpoint. Jay takes on Savitar while Barry goes after the stone. Savitar gives Jay a beating and he tells him that it is not his fight. This gives Barry enough time to put the stone back in the stone box. Once the stone is secure Savitar disappears and Barry learns that Julian is Alchemy.

He puts Julian in a pen in the basement and begins to question him. Julian doesn’t recognize the Alchemy mask. He doesn’t remember anything and thinks he is being setup.

While Barry tries to wrap his head around Julian/Alchemy, Caitlin and Cisco begin doing tests on the box. All the scans it comes up empty. It is like it doesn’t even exist.

Back in the basement Barry shows Julian that he is The Flash in order to get him to trust him. Julian then comes clean about blacking out and losing time/days. He tells Barry that his dead sister told him about the stone and where to find it. That it could bring her back to him. When he found the box and opened it his fellow scientists were killed. Julian ran to America to escape potentially being blamed for the deaths of his fellow scientists. That is when he started hearing Savitar’s voice.

Unfortunately for Barry this is only the beginning of the nightmare that comes in the remainder of the hour. Throughout the episode Cisco had been seeing images of his dead brother Dante around him. He confided in Caitlin thinking that would help them go away. However, Dante did not disappear. He popped up for a third time when Cisco was in front of the box with the stone inside. Dante tells Cisco that he can be reborn if Cisco grabs the stone. He can come back to life again. Cisco opens the box and Savitar appears. Savitar finds his way to Barry and begins to attack him. Wally goes to help Barry. While Kid Flash and The Flash take on Savitar, Caitlin finds Cisco and tells him he has to close the box. Cisco doesn’t want to lose Dante again. Caitlin pleads with Cisco telling him to give her the box or close it. If he doesn’t Barry and Wally will die. This gets through to him and he ultimately closes the box.

The team then learns that Savitar speaks through Julian. There is no Alchemy. Cisco hooks up Julian to a brain machine in order to mesh Julian’s brain with the stone so that they can speak to Savitar directly. It works. Savitar speaks to Barry through Julian.

Savitar holds the power of life and death over all of them. He knows their strengths, weaknesses, fears and their destinies. One shall fall, one shall betray you and one will suffer a fate far worse than death. This is the knowledge Savitar possesses. Savitar is the future. He wants everything Barry took from him and wants to destroy Barry. Apparently future Barry trapped him in eternity. The age of his revenge rises. Barry will fear the wrath of Savitar!

After waking from whatever that was, Julian informs the team that the stone is impossible to destroy. Jay comes up with the plan to throw it into the speed force; an endless void of time and energy. Savitar or anyone else for that matter, will never be able to find it that way. Jay and Barry team up. Barry siphons Jay’s energy in order to throw the stone into the speed force. Barry is thrown into the future with the box.

Barry jumps 5 months into the future. He sees Savitar free and watches him kill Iris right in front of him. Future Barry cradles her body as Present Barry watches in shock. Jay comes into the speed force, grabs Barry and brings him back into the present. Barry now understands why the newspaper article changed. Why Iris no longer writes the article 8 years in the future.

Barry immediately wants to head back and save Iris but Jay tells him that he can’t go back to the future and that it is only a possible future. There are infinite possibilities for the future. Jay tells him to focus on the here and now and live his life. He can’t worry about a future that may or may not happen.

Finally taking his advice, Barry and the team go back to the West home to celebrate Christmas. Caitlin invites Julian to the get together. He turns it down at first but shows up and with a present for Barry. He gets Barry reinstated at CCPD.

Joe and Cecile have their nog off and finally kiss, Wally gets his Kid Flash super suit and HR is drunk off egg nog which is absolutely perfect. To top off the hour on a happy note, Caitlin gives everyone a white Christmas by changing the rain to snow using her powers and Barry gets him and Iris their own place for Christmas.

The Flash Returns Tuesday January 24th.

To come on this season of The Flash:

The team will be working together throughout the rest of the season to figure out how to save Iris and defeat Savitar. How it plays out, only time will tell.

We will see a lot more Vibe. He will get new tricks, new powers and we will get to meet Gypsy.

Caitlin will train Kid Flash and still will be dealing with her powers.

Clip from the new episode coming Tuesday January 24th:

For those that have the CW app (if you don’t download it, it’s free!), The CW has given app users an exclusive look into episode 10 of The Flash which airs on Tuesday January 24th: Wally and Barry go out on their first mission and he takes charge on the mission. They put Plunder (Jared Morillo) in Iron Heights. If Wally can’t follow orders he can’t work with Barry anymore. He is supposed to shadow Barry. Observe and learn. That’s it. Doesn’t matter that Wally just saved his life. It’s also the museum’s opening night.

The final installment of DC’s 4 night epic crossover event concluded with last night’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Still located in Central City The Legends team up with the rest of the crossover team to eliminate The Dominators.

Central City 2016

After escaping the mothership and their abductors the team decides they want to commit an abduction of their own. Mick, Amaya, Nate, Felicity and Cisco head back in time to 1951 to kidnap a Dominator. Back at the base aka the Star Labs hanger, Oliver wants Kara to sit out or minimize her involvement in order to regain a sense of normalcy. He can’t handle all the aliens, even if a good one is on his side.

While Oliver continues to piss off Kara, Caitlin and Martin work on a plan to figure out how to defeat The Dominators back at Star Labs. Without Ray they aren’t doing too well. Luckily Martin’s daughter Lily helps them out as she has a PhD in Nanophysiology.

Timeship Central City 2016

On the timeship Cisco and Felicity geek out and start asking Nate all these techy questions that he can’t answer. They also throw in a Grease reference. “This ship is automatic. Systematic. Hydromatic.”

Redmond, Oregon 1951

The team lands in 1951 Redmond, Oregon moments later and Felicity experiences all the side effects of time travel. Therefore Felicity and Cisco are forced to stay on the timeship but not before Nate throws in a Princess Bride reference.

In the field Nate finally brings out his star spangled supersuit. Mick is not a fan but then again he really doesn’t like anything. While Mick, Amaya and Nate wait for a weak alien in the group, Cisco and Felicity have a mini therapy session. She tries to get him to see Barry’s point of view and understand that Dante’s death wasn’t his fault. It doesn’t work.

Cisco doesn’t have to dwell on it for long as Mick, Amaya and Nate spot a stray Dominator and make a move. They torch and beat it up a bit in order to grab it. Unfortunately they were not the only one’s looking to capture a Dominator. The group encounters a special government agent squad lead by Agent Smith and they are tranquilized and taken. Cisco and Felicity jump into action to rescue them.

Inside the cell Amaya and Nate realize the tranquilizer they were shot with is affecting their powers. They also learn of their cellmate; The Dominator they tried to capture earlier. They attempt to communicate with it.

Star Labs Central City 2016

Back at Star Labs Martin’s daughter (Lily) notices her father seems off. He is acting distant and treating her like a stranger, which to him she is. However, Martin doesn’t plan on dealing with this adversity for too long. He plans on restoring the timeline and in doing so will erase Lily from existence.

On the other side of town The White Canary (Sarah), The Green Arrow (Oliver), The Flash (Barry) and The Atom (Ray) are waiting for the president but are greeted by Agent Smith. The same Agent Smith, now much older, who kidnapped Amaya, Mick, Nate and The Dominator back in 1951. Smith informs the team that The Dominators dislike metas because they perceive them as a threat. Instead of accepting the team’s help, Smith and his special agents engage in a battle with the team.

Redmond, Oregon 1951

The other half of the team learns The Dominators are here to determine if the metahumans (at that period of time the JSA) are a threat. They are then rescued by the nerds (Cisco and Felicity) and set The Dominator that they captured free. Turns out the Waverider has a Dominator ship and they use that ship to send the Dominator back to its mothership. Not before Cisco snagged a transponder from the ship though.

Amaya, Mick, Nate, Felicity and Cisco strap in and return home to Central City 2016.

Central City 2016

At the hanger Agent Smith lets Barry know he knows everything about him and how he altered the timeline. The Dominators are back because of Barry. He unknowingly broke the truce by changing the timeline and creating flashpoint. However Agent Smith lets Barry know of the deal he made with the alien invaders. If Barry surrenders himself to The Dominators they will leave in peace.

The other half of the team returns to the hanger and gets a phone call from The Dominator they saved. He tells them he will spare their lives but if Barry doesn’t turn himself in The Dominators will unleash a weapon that will destroy all metahumans.

After getting this news Dominator ships begin to land all over the world. Cisco tries to call The Dominator back but he doesn’t answer. Hoping to get in contact with The Dominator he spoke to earlier Cisco vibes into the mothership with Nate.

They find him and learn the reason why The Dominators are threatened by Metahumans. They are afraid if bad people get powers they will use them to harm others and destroy the planet. The Dominators have seen it happen before and refuse to let history repeat itself. Speaking of history. Turns out Nate, Amaya, Cisco, Mick and Felicity altered the timeline when they saved The Dominator back in 1951. Cisco is finally able to understand Barry’s side of the story and the regret he feels.

Star Labs Central City 2016

Martin reconciles with Lily and she is able to figure out how to get the Nano-device to work. Is he having a change of heart? Will he still erase her from existence and restore the timeline or choose to save his daughter?

Central City 2016

As usual Barry wants to be a martyr and prepares to turn himself over. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Except for the fact that Oliver and the rest of the team won’t let him leave. Even Cisco wants him to stay. He calls Barry his friend again.

Ships all over the world and in Central City begin opening up. The team quickly discovers that it was a guise used to distract them from the real threat pummeling toward the Earth; The Dominators metabomb.

Martin arrives in time to give Barry the Nano-device crafted by Lily. Team crossover takes on The Dominators to distract them while Barry plants Martin and Lily’s weapon on all them. Amidst the battle Oliver is thrown off a building by the invaders but is saved by Supergirl.

In the air Sarah and Cisco use the Waverider to try and grab the metabomb. They recruit Firestorm to help them. Firestorm has to transmute the device into something harmless.

Supergirl and The Flash go across the globe planting devices on the remaining Dominators. Felicity uses the device to hurt The Dominators allowing Firestorm to successfully transmute the device causing The Dominators to retreat around the world.

Team crossover celebrates their victory and Ray slips in a nod to his Man of Steel days when he says Kara looks like his cousin.

Speaking of Kara. Oliver apologies to her and results in a Barry-Kara-Oliver (an unwilling participant) group hug. Cisco interrupts the moment to Oliver’s relief and presents Kara with a gift he made. The gift is an interdimensional extrapolator that creates small breaches so she can come back to this earth anytime she wants. It also has a communication device so she can contact the team when she wants/needs to.

Mick eavesdrops and learns of the device. He uses it to segway into a pickup line and hits on skirt aka Kara, telling her to call him.

In another part of the hanger Martin makes Jax promise not to tell the team about his daughter. He has had a change of heart and doesn’t want to lose her. If Jax tells the team they will be forced to restore the timeline and erase her from existence. The question remains: what other changes will this aberration make to the timeline if left alone?

Agent Smith briefly returns to speak to the team but before he can get a word out Kara tells him he has been reassigned to Antarctica. After silencing Smith Kara uses her breach device and returns home.

Forgiveness came full circle for Barry in the close of this episode. Diggle forgives him and tells Barry that he has to forgive himself.

Looking to continue the celebration Barry and Oliver head out to have a drink. After a few jabs their conversation turns more sincere. They realize that their lives would not be full if they were normal. They finally appreciate just how lucky they are.

Next Week:

Mid-season finale of The Flash: The Flash from Earth 3 and Barry take on Savitar.

Mid-season finale of Arrow: Evelyn goes rogue and unveils herself as a traitor who is working for Prometheus.

Mid-season finale of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Al Capone arrives and Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold returns but not as The Legends version of Snart. He is just a criminal. Could this be the beginning of The Legion of Doom?

DC Week’s 4 night crossover event continued on last night’s episode of The Flash. The invasion began in Central City when a spaceship landed in the center of town.

Barry approached the spaceship but was sent flying from a silver beam of light. Moments later The Dominators were unleashed, dashing off the spaceship. Lyla Diggle arrived in Central City shortly after the landing of The Dominators and she filled Team Flash in on what she knows. She then informed the team to stand down and let A.R.G.U.S. handle it.

Barry won’t back off that easily and heads out to Star City to recruit Team Arrow. While this is going on Iris and Joe watch as Wally reaches mock 2 during testing. Iris makes Caitlin and Cisco lie to Wally about his abilities hoping it will delay his use of his newly found superpowers.

Barry reaches Star City and saves Spartan and The Green Arrow from getting shot by a vigilante. He brings them both back to Felicity’s apartment and tells them about the invading aliens. Speedy aka Thea Queen walks in on their conversation and decides to come out of retirement to battle The Dominators. Oliver and Barry then have Felicity send a message to The Legends asking for their help.

The Legends arrive in Central City while Barry and Cisco go to Earth 38 and pick up Kara aka Supergirl. A new team assembles (Team Flash + Team Arrow + The Legends (minus Nate and Amaya who hang back to watch the wave rider) + Supergirl) and formulate a plan to take down The Dominators. Barry becomes team leader aka Oliver calls the shots and Barry repeats them. Oliver/Barry tell the team to prepare to train against Kara since she is an alien. The team battles Kara but nothing phases her.

While this is going on invasion continues. The Dominators ready a mind controlling device and prepare to use it on the president. They kidnap the president and take him back to a warehouse.

Barry learns that Snart died sacrificing himself for the team and also learns about the message he sent Rip in the future.

Wally shows up to try and train with the team. Iris is able to stop him from interfering. That is until he heads back to the lab and sees his test results; his powers are excelling and his body is adapting well to the changes. This only makes Wally want to get in the field more but Joe and Iris don’t want him to get involved, therefore Wally turns to an unlikely ally; HR. Wally tries to convince HR to secretly train him but HR turns him down not wanting to jeopardize his position with the team.

After his discussion with Barry, Martin starts having his visions again. Caitlin walks in mid-vision and Martin asks her to escort him back to his home to go see the woman in his visions. Martin arrives home and is finally able to confirm that the woman he is seeing in his visions is in fact his daughter. He is also still married to Clarissa.

Martin’s daughter is a direct result of Barry messing with the timeline. At least this aberration had a positive result for Martin. Unfortunately for the other members in the arrowverse it’s not the same story, which is why Cisco forces Barry to tell the team about his message and the changing of the timeline.

Diggle learns that he originally had a daughter and not a son. The rest of the team now distrusts Barry and therefore Barry sits out round one. Oliver refuses to go into battle without him and is forced to stay behind as well. The rest of the team lead by Kara go retrieve the president.

While in the field Kara tells the team about her x-ray vision. Mick being his usual repulsive self says he will call her skirt not Supergirl. That is right after he asks if she can see everyone’s giblets with her x-ray vision.

The team then heads into the warehouse and finds the president. Unfortunately for them it is a trap by The Dominators; the president was a hologram. They are then attacked by The Dominators and taken over by them.

Barry and Oliver have a heart to heart back at Star Labs. Barry shows Oliver the news article from the future where he goes missing. The news article from Barry’s future isn’t written by Iris West-Allen any more. What did Barry do in the future? Did he sabotage their relationship?

Oliver tells Barry that he isn’t a God and that he is going to make mistakes. What matters is that he learns from those mistakes. Moments later Barry and Oliver are alerted by Cisco that the team is under control of The Dominators. Barry and Oliver arrive on the scene and are attacked by their friends. They have to take them out one by one without killing them.

Seeing the trouble Oliver and Barry are in Wally goes out to help them. Wally gets injured by Kara when he tries to protect Barry. Ollie takes a now unconscious Wally and runs for cover while Barry challenges Supergirl to a race.

Ollie reaches a building but is cornered when he runs out of arrows. He is forced to compete in hand to hand combat with The White Canary aka Sarah Lance. On the other side of Central City Barry has Kara chase him back to the warehouse where The Dominators device is being held. Barry vibrates and Kara flies through him and the mind control device controlling the team breaking it, therefore breaking the mind control on them.

An injured Wally returns to Star Labs and is scorned by Joe and Iris. However all hope is not lost for Kid Flash as HR agrees to train Wally after he saw he was willing to sacrifice himself to save Barry and Oliver; he sees potential in the young speedster.

At the close of the episode Sarah is taken by The Dominators along with Ray, Oliver, Mick and Speedy.

TO BE CONTINUED ON ARROW!

More of what’s to come:

What remains of the crossover team searches to find its abducted members.

The Dominators play head games. Katie Cassidy aka Laurel Lance/Black Canary and Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke return for Arrow’s 100th episode. Who else will return for the 100th episode? Oliver’s mom? Tommy?

Look out for a recap of tomorrow’s episode of Arrow to find out!

The 4 night crossover event aka #DCWeek began last night with Supergirl. Kara aka Supergirl had a breach enter her apartment and quickly dissipate during her family’s Thanksgiving meal. This quickly ended the event and the group went their ways.

Mon-El ended up at a local bar and ran into the original Hank Henshaw. He followed Hank outside and got into a battle with him. Mon-El ended up losing that battle but was spared from the aftermath that occurred inside the bar. Original Henshaw unleashed an aerosol kryptonian virus known as medusa and used it to kill all the aliens in the bar. Kara then learns the blood Lillian Luthor took from her was used to get inside the fortress of solitude and steal the medusa. A virus Kara’s father created in the event of an attack that would save the people of Krypton but would eliminate all other alien species.

Mon-El contracted traces amounts of the medusa and was brought back to headquarters and quarantined. While this is going on Alex finally comes out to her mother and J’onn tells Kara he is turning into a white martian.

Kara then figures out original Henshaw’s next move and gets into a battle with him. While in battle another breach occurs and distracts Kara allowing Henshaw to escape. Kara heads back to headquarters to check up on Mon-El who finally makes a move and kisses her.

Lena Luthor daughter of Lilian Luthor calls her mother once again and this time offers to help her with her cause aka rid the earth of all alien species. She gives her mother isotope 454 which will allow the serum to become airborne and kill any alien in the city. The two head to a pier and launch a rocket with the serum inside it.

J’onn and Kara arrive on the scene. J’onn takes on original Henshaw as a white martian while Kara goes all Supergirl and chases after the rocket. She is able to grab the rocket but it still goes off. Awaiting their death, Kara and J’onn look to the sky as the serum sprinkles down upon them but nothing happens. Turns out Lena is not a true Luthor after all; she switched the isotope, saved the aliens and called the police on her mother.

Back at the headquarters Kara’s mother was able to reengineer the serum and save Mon-El. Kara confronts Mon-El about the kiss they shared but he doesn’t remember kissing her. Or does he?

Speaking of kisses, Maggie and Alex finally get together.

At the close of the episode a third breach opens in Kara’s apartment, this time Barry and Cisco step out. Barry then enlists Kara’s help.

TO BE CONTINUED ON THE FLASH!

Hint of what’s to come in the crossover:

Speedy aka Thea Queen comes back into action and shoots an arrow at Barry. Is she under the control of The Dominators?

Caitlin continued to struggle with her Killer Frost abilities in last week’s episode of The Flash. Caitlin almost went too far in “Killer Frost”. In hopes of eliminating her newfound powers she seeks out Alchemy thinking he has the ability to take away her powers.

In the beginning of the episode, Caitlin was forced to use her powers in order to save Barry. Barry was in a battle as The Flash against Savitar The God of Speed. Savitar is essentially Barry’s God which is why he is much more powerful than Barry. Savitar takes Barry for a run and drags him through a really cool electric tunnel. The God of Speed runs so fast that he appears in places all over the city at once even though, to Barry, it feels like they aren’t even moving.

Savitar is an invisible force that is too fast to track for the team to track. Eventually, with the help of HR (who has been doing his homework and is actually helping the team track metas), they are able to locate Barry and Savitar just as The God of Speed is about to kill our beloved speedster. Cisco creates a breach for him and Caitlin to save Barry. She momentarily freezes Savitar, saving Barry, but Savitar breaks through the ice surrounding him and escapes.

Barry then divulges to the team that Savitar is from the future and that he is the only one who can see him.

Back at the lab Joe is trying to figure out how to get Wally out of his cocoon which resembles a tunnel of lava. Hoping that the hooded man they captured in Alchemy’s lair will have some answers, Joe interrogates him. Joe’s interrogation is short lived when Caitlin swings by to tell Joe that Wally has come out of the cocoon he was in (a lie) in order to get the hooded man alone. She asks the hooded man where Alchemy is and gets nowhere. However, the hooded man does tell Caitlin that Savitar is a dark lord.

This is all before she is made by police officers in the precinct. Caitlin is on a mission and no one will stop her. Therefore, she seals in the police officers and takes Julian hostage. Barry heads to the precinct and learns the task force is being sent after her. He has to find her before they do.

Caitlin takes Julian back to a warehouse and asks him to do a search for anyone who has looked up the name Savitar in the last 24 hours. He recognizes the name. Later on in “Killer Frost” we learn why Julian knows Savitar. Julian hears Savitar’s voice and he pays him a visit at the close of the episode. He asks Julian to bring him back. How does he have this ability you ask? Why he is Alchemy of course!!!!!!

At the warehouse Barry arrives in time to save Caitlin before the task force arrives. Caitlin becomes angry with Barry and tells Cisco about Dante. Distracted with the information she just unloaded, Barry is stabbed by Caitlin. She breaks free and continues her manhunt for Alchemy… if only she knew she had already captured him. Will Cisco and Barry’s friendship ever be the same?

After learning what Barry did Cisco turns his back on Barry and goes to stake out the home of one of Alchemy’s followers by himself. HR and Joe stake out the home of the other follower.

Caitlin arrives at the home of one of Alchemy’s followers and learns that in the future she will be very powerful. Savitar has great plans for her. He has shown all his followers the future and there is a battle coming. Is this the battle Barry told Rip about?

After learning that Alchemy won’t take away her powers Caitlin heads outside and battles Cisco (the same one he vibed before). Barry gets involved in the fight and she freezes him with a kiss. He vibrates to unfreeze himself.

The team is able to capture Caitlin and are forced to put her in the tunnels. While this is going on Joe cuts Wally out of his cocoon and he takes off. Wally’s mind and body aren’t working together because he was taken out too early.

Barry is forced to let Caitlin go hoping she will help Wally when they find him. However the only way she is getting out of the room is if she kills Barry. This gets through to her. She doesn’t kill him and Caitlin comes through to help Wally.

Caitlin creates a serum back at the lab and Barry injects it into Wally when they find him back at the house he grew up in. They bring him back to the lab and run some tests. Wally is able to run faster than Barry could in the beginning. Will he eventually become faster than Barry? We may find out soon enough as Wally is eager to get in the field as Kid Flash and fight alongside Barry.

Barry tries to clean up another one of his messes and goes to see Julian to talk to him about Caitlin. He doesn’t want Julian to turn her in. He begs him, saying he will do anything. Julian wants him to quit and leave the force. He doesn’t want Barry to be a CSI anymore because of his choice to save his friend instead of invoking justice. This coming from the guy who doubling as a CSI and Dr. Alchemy. Can you say hypocrite?

This week’s episode of ‘The Flash’ dealt with monsters both inner and outer. Out in the world Barry and his team faced a monster that was terrorizing the streets of Central City while members of the team were busy battling their inner monsters.

Caitlin heads out of town to tackle the monster developing inside her. She is scared of what she is becoming and turns to her mother (Dr. Carla Tannhauser), another renowned scientist, for help. Unfortunately her mother isn’t quick to offer help until Caitlin reveals that she is the patient by turning her desk to ice. Her mother treats Caitlin like another experiment and runs some bio-tests on her, as their mother/daughter issues continue to transpire; we learn that when Caitlin’s father died her and her mother’s relationship changed and hasn’t been the same since. Caitlin is given another test and ends up absorbing the energy of the entity she cooled down.

Looking to capitalize on Caitlin’s abilities and make a name in the science world for himself, Nigel locks Caitlin in the exam room and tells her she won’t be going anywhere. Caitlin grabs his arm and gives him frost bite. We learn that her anger charges her powers and makes her lose control. Luckily her mother comes to her aid and apologizes for how she treated Caitlin. This calms Caitlin down and allows her to regain control of herself. Her mother let’s Caitlin go and cleans up the mess she made.

Back at Star Labs, Cisco snoops on HR because he doesn’t trust him. He discovers a recording device (a pen) and begins to listen to the message. HR comes back as he is in the middle of doing this and the team discovers that HR is not a scientist but a writer/idea man. He has been restating everything everyone is saying and sometimes coming up with idea but not executing them. HR then tells the team that his partner decrypted the message that Harrison sent him across dimensions and that he is essentially a supervisor of do-ers back on his Earth. He comes up with a strategy and they execute it. This becomes abundantly clear when the team goes after the monster terrorizing the city; HR can’t even triangulate the monsters location. However, the team is willing to give HR one last chance to prove himself, in the meantime we can assume Cisco and Caitlin will run the show.

Caitlin comes back in time to help deal with the monster. Turns out the monster was just a hologram being run by some teenage kid. Barry jumps in to save said kid when Julian fires his gun at him. The teenager then explains to Joe that he did it because he was bullied. He wanted someone else to feel afraid for a change. He wanted to feel powerful.

Later on in “Monster” Julian gives Barry insight into his past. Turns out Julian was the heir to a fortune from a wealthy English family, however he chose to be a scientist. He was at the top of his game until the meta-humans came along and swept the rug out from underneath him. This is why he despises metas, however The Flash may have changed his perception of them and allowed him to open up to Barry. He is willing to give Barry a shot and goes to grab a drink with him. Could these two finally get along?

Other notable moments:

Barry and Cisco are roomies.

Iris tries to get Joe to take Cecile up on her offer. Joe tells Iris to stop playing cupid.

We also learn the more Caitlin uses her powers, the more difficult they will be to reverse. Can you actually reverse the meta-gene? If so, will this be used to defeat other metas? Will Barry or any of the other good metas use it get rid of their powers and lead a normal life?

Next Week:

Wally dreams about being Kid Flash and he gets possessed.

Barry meets Dr. Alchemy face to face.

This week’s episode of The Flash “Magenta”, showed us even more consequences of Barry’s altering of the timeline. In the previous episode (episode 2), Barry realizes that the world he is now living in is still different and that nothing will ever be exactly the same again. Flash from Earth 2 explained to Barry, after he ripped him from the speedforce, that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. Therefore, a separate but similar timeline was created. One where Cisco can control his powers and where Caitlin is developing Killer Frost’s powers. The changes even rippled across the arrowverse. Diggle now has a son and Oliver has sleeves again.

Meta’s from the Flashpoint are also being given their powers back by none other than Dr. Alchemy. First it was The Rival, Edward Clarss and now Frankie Kane aka Magenta. Magenta has the ability to control and bend metal at her will. Kind of like a female Magneto. Magenta is a second personality of Frankie who is out to kill her foster father John James for abusing her. Unfortunately Barry cannot take on Magenta alone. Luckily for him a breach is opened at the lab and Wells and his daughter Jesse come through.

Jesse is now a speedster, which bums Wally out as they were both hit by the dark matter and only Jesse has powers. Well’s brought her back to in hopes to convince her not to become a superhero. That doesn’t go as planned as Jesse ends up being the one to help Barry; she creates a figure-8 while running to propel the tanker Magenta is trying to drop on the hospital in order to kill her adopted father. While Jesse is keeping the tanker in the air, Barry is trying to reach Frankie and get Magenta to stop. He is successful and is able to learn how Dr. Alchemy is getting the Metas to come to him; Dr. Alchemy reaches out to them in dreams. First the dreams are at night only, then all the time and they slowly become more painful until they Metas finally hear Dr. Alchemy’s voice calling to them.

We then learn that Wally has also had dreams about being Kid Flash. Will he go to Alchemy in order to get his powers back?

After saving the day, Barry gets Magenta into a good home and makes sure she is alright and Jesse gets a suit and a new name Jesse Quick. Iris and Barry then try going on a second date but once again Barry has to leave and go to the station. At the station Joe shows Barry Clarss getting killed by Dr. Alchemy. Sidebar: how is Iris getting back?

Next Week

We meet a Bonnie and Clyde couple of sorts. One of which is a Meta that can travel through mirrors and traps Barry inside one.
