After collaborating on a few singles on this years’ Hamsterdam tape, Baltimore native Flow Simpson and Las Vegas product Chief are back with their collaborative new tape Blue Moon Studio. The album, which has features from Wave MMLZ, Haresha, Oliver Spitts and 187, is an ode to the brewing company Blue Moon, which Chief says is his favorite beer. “Haha, he kind of made it my favorite beer as well.” said Simpson over email to RESPECT. Considering this fantastic picture of the actual “Blue Moon Studio”, the word favorite might be an understatement.

Boasting ridiculous production from MMLZ, 187 Beatz, Mally Beats, Jayno, piggbeats, and Ze; Blue Moon Studio is a hazy journey into the minds of Simpson and Chief. The two developed a creative chemistry while living in Arizona and collaborating on a hand full of tracks including the ambitious banger, “Mo’ Money” which inspired the wheels to begin turning on a collab album. “Well, right when Flow touched down in Arizona that week, we cranked out like 5-7 tracks,” says Chief, “after the studio was built up a little bit, we decided we needed to hit them with an album.” The chemistry shows on stoner anthems, “Jumper” and “Roll Up” which features Oliver Spitts, and in the overall flow of the album – no pun in intended. Other highlights include “Everyday“, “Davey Jones“, and “Slime” which features chilling vocals from rising singer/rapper Haresha.

With an album in the books and multiple collaborations out, what’s next for the hazy duo? “There is always music in the vault,” said Simpson, “so future collaborations are definitely plotted to drop.” Check out the album below and be sure to comment your thoughts on the bottom.

The long-awaited album, Chief, from frequent Quelle Chris collaborator Cavalier is slated to drop on September 9th. To keep us in check til then, Cav has brought forth the single “Watch and Learn”  This spirited spitter is seemingly from another rap galaxy as he intricately details the life of a kid living through a drug house. Produced by BMB Spacekid, the track is spacey and soulful at the same time. Ruby Flores, the video’s director, puts you at eye level of the 9-year-old youngster that has to endure his tainted surroundings. Strong visions and even stronger message.
