Yet another unreleased Kanye West track has surfaced online, following a string of recent leaks from West’s Yeezus recording sessions. This time however, it’s the song “Baby’s Coming”, a tune that Kanye actually recorded as part of the hip-hop group The Go-Getters. And this thing is old. Like, pre-College Dropout old. But even given it’s age, “Baby’s Coming” has all the characteristics that would later define West’s early career, featuring a R&B sample of “Ain’t Nobody” by Rufus and Chaka Khan as well as an array of electronic synths.

Although you can tell Kanye has still yet to come into his own as an emcee, his verse on the song shares similar sentiments echoed in his later classic “Gold Digger”. He opens: “These hoes is all the same/They all want a nigga hollering out “money ain’t a thing”/Bout pathetic as a player that lost his game/How a motherfuckin’ hoe turn a pimp to a lame.” Perhaps the highlight of the song occurs when the young Ye delivers an enthusiastic performance on the chorus, singing “Let em put you on peep it though/I ain’t even want to freak the hoe/Shit I just snapped the first time ’bout a week ago”

So if you ever wanted to listen to the roots of the man who would eventually become Yeezus, you’re in luck. Listen to “Baby’s Coming” below.

Last year, Hennessy Artistry teamed up with The Roots and Q-Tip to host 5 exclusive events in New York, L.A., Miami, Chicago and Detroit for which they brought together a slew of legendary and iconic artists (Chaka Khan, Mary J. Blige, Eve, Bobby Brown, The Roots, Q-Tip and Kat DeLuna, just to name a few) to create an unforgettable audio experience.

Thankfully, for those of us who didn’t manage to attend these unique performances, the Hennessy Artistry events were captured on tape by acclaimed filmmaker Thibaut de Longeville; a hip-hop and street culture connoisseur best known for his documentary “Just for Kicks”.

The documentary, which is a compilation of performances and 1:1 interviews, will premiere on Hennessy’s Facebook Page on June 30th. I don’t know about ya’ll, but from the looks of the trailer, I can’t wait to check this one out!
