Caliph‘s new song “How Do You Know” is not only an ode to a woman but a glimpse into a much deeper story. While Trump’s presidency offers a threat to Caliph’s legal status and all other DACA recipients, “How Do You Know” questions the country’s division and forces Caliph to think back to his home country, Africa. The second single from his upcoming Fall project, Trespassing, displays the perfect amount of symbolism and emotion needed in the music of today.

Through the personification of his love for Africa and skepticism for the Untied States, the New
Bedford, MA artist offers his natural emotions to his listeners. As he glides through the production
of Sonic Drugs and shifts through melodies, the new song dives into an organic feel and ultimately displays Caliph’s versatility. Not only is it a demonstration of his skill, but it showcases his ability to speak to different audiences and his willingness to adapt and evolve as an artist.
