New Music: Brown Bag Allstars Feat. Akie Bermiss – “Bleuvelour”

The Brown Bag All Stars are back with another gift for the masses. This time, it’s the bonus track they recorded as icing to their iTunes re-release cake. Koncept sounds polished as ever kicking this track off with some reminiscing about the older girls he used to pull in his younger days. Following him is J57 with a solid point: “You can go on namin’ people while I cruise around with Primo / Yeah I named a name, it’s true, if you could you’d do it too.” Soul Khan and Audible Doctor trade four bars each before Khan jumps back in for a verse that covers ground ranging from a (intentional) dud of an AIDS punchline (can that ever go well, anyways?) to a slick, stylish summation of his style. New Music: Brown Bag Allstars – “BRWN”

The scrappy Brown Bag crew dropped off this bundle of dope to celebrate their upcoming March 4th release of Brown Label 1 & 2. We heard this track live, and it certainly stands up on wax. Over EP of The Doppelgangaz‘ slick, smokey beat, Soul Khan kicks things off with a snarling, straightforward eight bars, followed by the smooth Audible Doctor, a particularly sharp Koncept (“You porn-hubbin’, I’m porn fuckin'”) and J57 with some quintessential New York shit-talk (“The new Sinatra in blue blockers with ‘Who Shot Ya’ bumpin'”). Brown Bag All-Stars Pay Tribute to Fat Beats in New Video

If you’re a music fan over the age of 21 then you surely remember visiting your favorite record store on Tuesdays to cop that new release. If you’re a music junkie then you surely also remember hanging out at a local record store talking about your favorite artists.

Fat Beats Records closed up shop a couple of years ago. The store was a staple for NY and LA hip-hop heads. Even though the locations are gone, the memories remain and the Brown Bag All-Stars are helping in that regard. They reminisce about their days working at Fat Beats in their new video “406” (for the NY shop located at 406 Sixth Avenue in Greenwich Village). Take a trip down memory lane with them.
