For anyone that’s been anywhere near Chicago since April, the city’s latest, three-dimensional, interactive, Monopoly inspired street art installation may be old news. But for the rest of us, the pictures of the game-themed piece by a new anonymous artist, called BORED, get cooler and cooler by the week. For now, residents of Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood should consider themselves lucky to be sharing their streets with a host of famous Monopoly characters, gigantic dice, and three-dimensional Chance cards as they walk along a unique life sized-Monopoly board street project.

While Chicago is certainly home to a wealth of well-done graffiti, spray paint, and street craft, Bored told Colossal blogger Christopher Jobson that the project stemmed from BORED’s frustration with the boring Chicago street art scene. Bored told Jobson, “the goal of this entire project has been to present something different than a stencil painted on the ground or a poster pasted to a wall. Something 3-dimensional that can be picked up, beaten down, kicked, yanked, grabbed, and broken. And if left alone it will evolve into something different.” Regardless of wether the Chicago street scene is lacking or not, BORED’s new project is certainly a welcomed change of pace for Chicago natives, tourists, and Monopoly enthusiasts alike.
