The 19 year-old LA-bred rapper has amassed quite the cult following online, gaining rapid recognition for his prolific output of music. This method, along with his often comical song titles may lead one to quickly lump him into Lil B territory, but the music is far more mature and focused. His steady stream of releases may be daunting to a new fan, but Bones has managed to package his sound into an accessible, compact new album with Garbage.

Despite the title, the project is meaningful and well-crafted. The dirty Southern element of his music remains, with haunting, lo-fi, deadpan vocals and crooning. Bones’ music has a vintage feel to it, blending a Metal element while still sounding like he could have been a rapper out of Memphis in the ’90’s. Tracks like “SearchingForService” demonstrates his Southern influence, while records like “MyFavoriteColorIsRain” and “Butterfly” are ripe with hazy, nightmarish tones.
