What does your playlist reveal about you? Rap music enthusiasts listen to songs they can relate to. A careful analysis of your playlist can tell you a lot about yourself. This is what rappers like Kaliwae consider when developing lyrics. In a recent interview, Kaliwae talked about her new single. She also talked about the inspirations that ignite her sassy appeal.

She was recently asked to describe her music and she stated the following. “My music is fun, catchy, a bad b***h anthem. I try to create music that’s a reflection of me. Something a bad b***h can ride to!” She creates many vibes to stay diverse. However, her focus is to influence women who listen to her music. This is an affirmation you can confirm when playing her new single “Melrose.” A statement of dominance, independence and sexy confidence.

Rappers work hard to be creative. Regardless of their personal challenges, expectations, or perceptions. Kaliwae believes that female rappers don’t get the same reception as their male counterparts. She has an interesting strategy to counter this. She confirms, “My focus right now is learning to brand myself in a new way. I’m basically the clout chasing- brother dissing rapper.”

Last summer Kaliwae released ‘friendly diss track’ targeting her brother Blueface. The track came after a family argument. What better way to deal with male chauvinism than to poke at your sibling? This is Kaliwae’s version of creativity. The same sassy attitude that helps her stand out as a female rapper.

Kaliwae has her opinion about the music industry. Some of those opinions will trigger resentment from other rappers. She reiterates the need to positively impact other people. Rising superstar “The Prince of LA” has been putting on for his city in a major way. As a recording aritst, influencer and actor, this LA native is using his talents to make his wildest dreams come true. Having recently worked with Cash Money Records artist BlueFace for his “Come and Find Me” single, he is gearing up for a successful summer run.

I caught up with the budding MC for a quick interview below. As he candidly discusses working with Blueface, why he is the “Prince of LA” and having a hit record, you get a deeper look into what it is like being one of Los Angeles brightest rising stars.

The Prince Of LA Interview

RESPECT: As “The Prince of LA” what does that mean to you and why did you choose it as your stage name?

PRINCE: I chose that name because not only am I from L.A. but I really put on for my city. Outside of music I’ve done charity work and gave back to the community in so many ways, it was only right.

RESPECT: How do you balance being an actor, influencer and recording artist?

PRINCE: You can have multiple talents but you have to lock in on one at a time to really see progress, in my opinion. No way to really balance it, but it’s possible to take one at a time and succeed!

RESPECT: What was the inspiration behind your “Come and Find Me” hit record?

PRINCE: I am an artist that goes to the studio and records on a regular, so I feel this record came just like any other song I would have made. No special inspiration behind this song, in particular, just my inspiration to be a great artist is what pushed me to make the record.

RESPECT: Describe your experience working with BlueFace?

PRINCE: It felt natural. My dad, uncle and I are from Midtown, as well as BlueFace so I feel like it was bound to happen. We were always together and I DJ’d a couple of shows for him when he was coming up, so it wasn’t hard for the music to happen.

RESPECT: Tell us a little about your new record “In These Streets”?

PRINCE: “In These Streets” is an instant ear catcher. I feel like the melodies I laid down on the beat catches a lot of people’s attention, especially the females. Which is one reason I feel the song is growing at such a fast rate. Also, I feel that people can relate to what I’m talking about on the song.

RESPECT: What does the city of LA mean to you?

PRINCE: The city means the world to me. This is where I was born and raised, and it is also the land of opportunities. I see a lot of people here say,” I need to get out of LA” but I don’t think they realize how many people from outside the country would die to be where they are. This is honestly where dreams come true.

RESPECT: How do you plan to create longevity for yourself in the music business?

PRINCE: I feel like making timeless music that people can play over and over, will give me longevity. Creativity, versatility, and knowing when to use all these tools, will for sure extend my time in this industry. Of course, people will box me in based on the song I went viral from, but as I continue to release music the fans will see my true colors as an artist.
