Music is Black Steve’s ambition. From a childhood surrounded by gangs and drug dealings, Steve wanted to turn his life around to positively impact others through his music. After losing many friends and family members to the streets, Steve decided that he needed to make music his focus and priority so he can stay out of trouble, and at the same time, be a good influence on others who relate to him.

Steve aspires to be a voice for those who had a rough upbringing and might be afraid to verbalize it; his voice is through his lyrics, which he spends quality time perfecting until his story is told 100% truthfully and articulately.

Black Steve has already been compared to Gucci Mane and Boosie Badazz. His manager, Monique Spratt tells RESPECT. Magazine that his upcoming single ‘Game Gossip’ might just be the next Southern anthem.

Added Spratt: “His music is inspired by his life experiences and everything he saw with his own eyes. I think Steve is the next to blow.”

They say when Black Steve performs at venues, the crowd always demands an encore. It seems his stage presence and energy is captivating and infectious. This is because Black Steve knows his calling and is doing what he loves- music. His motivation doesn’t come from the hype that he sees on TV or social media; it comes from his upbringing and all of the situations he has seen growing up in the hood. In addition to hoping to touch other people’s lives, he also learns a lot from people who share similar life experiences with him.
