When MTV News caught up with him recently, Nas revealed that he was very reluctant to be featured on the show. “It was tough. I didn’t want to do ‘Behind the Music,’ ” Nas admits. “I didn’t. But at some point, if you don’t tell your story, somebody else will. So I gave them a little peek inside. It can’t hurt, just a little peek inside.”

Whatever tales are left untold in his “Behind the Music” episode, fans will find in his upcoming autobiography, which is being penned with help from writer Touré. “The crazy thing is, I just did a book deal to write about my life,” Nas said. “At first I thought, ‘This is cool,’ but then I was going back and forth on it and finally said, ‘Let me just do it, man, it’s just life.’ ”

“I’ve been talking to Touré, and he’s been putting the book together,” he added. “I thought it would take me two years [to finish], but just with the stuff I gave him, it’s enough. It’s so much already. I can’t give you everything.”

Nas‘ “Behind the Music” debuted Wednesday, April 18 at 9 p.m. ET on VH1. In case you missed it, the full episode is accessible below.

“Ice Cube took you on a journey.” – Snoop Dogg

So starts the VH1 documentary that chronicled Ice Cube’s life. The Compton rapper was the subject of VH1’s Behind The Music last night, and the video tells his whole story – from childhood fears to current projects and trials, and it features exclusive material like childhood pictures and interviews with family members.

From beginning to end, the entire film is only 40 minutes, but it’s chock full of details, so give it a watch.

Last night, VH1 aired their newest installment of the famed series Behind the Music, and this time, Missy Elliott was the featured artist. Not as though we didn’t before, but after watching the episode, we must admit we have some serious respect for Missy who opened up on camera about the demons of her past and present, and how she has managed to deal with and defeat them on her way to the top. The special featured commentary from Missy herself, as well as from friends and family, including Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Ciara and Timbaland. Its hard to discern whether or not the footage did Missy and her accomplishments enough justice, but it was a great piece none the less. We especially loved the ending shot in which Missy confesses, “I hope to be among the legends when I’m done…But I ain’t done yet.” We’re glad to hear it, and you already are a legend in our books.

Make sure to keep an eye out for Missy’s newest album Bloc Party, set for release later this year.
