This time around Puff Daddy and the family take us on a trip to the auction. “Auction” is the newest single off Puffy’s “MMM” album he released back in November of 2015 on his birthday.  It trails the previous single and video “Blow A Check” that features French Montana and Zoey Dollar hi-jacking the Bad Boy office.

However, this go round, the Bad Boy crew gathers together in all black like the omen for the Hype Williams directed video.  The 90’s inspired video has them doing their performance with a white backdrop, with Lil Kim sitting front and center.  “Auction” is another video Puffy joined forces with Hype for. He has also directed the other video for the album as well (Workin.)

Puffy has been busy in the studio putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated “No Way Out 2,” which is the sequel to his 1997 ht album.  As we wait for the new studio album we’ll just anticipate the rumors of the Bad Boy crew embarking on reunion tour.  Following last years BET Awards where the Bad Boy roster took the stage to celebrate 20 years in the industry.  Rumors sparked that the label who formally held acts such as Faith Evans, 112, Total, and The Lox, were going to hit the road for a reunion tour with Lil Kim and new Bad Boy members as an addition.  As no official dates have yet to be issued, the talk is still circulating as if the tour may lead up to the release of “No Way Out 2.“

In case you missed it, Bad Boy Entertainment recently celebrated 20 years of being one of the best labels the world has seen. At this year’s BET Awards, the world got to witness a ten minute tribute to Bad Boy where Sean “Diddy” Combs brought some of the labels best acts from Mase to 112 to Faith Evans to the Notorious Queen Bee herself, Lil Kim. While the tribute focused on the classics from Bad Boy’s reign in the 90s, we got to see some of Bad Boy’s latest success with French Montana coming out to perform his feature from the “Hot Boy (Remix)”. Now it wouldn’t be a Bad Boy tribute without paying homage to the Notorious B.I.G so the tribute took the time to give props to probably the most successful artist from Bad Boy, besides Diddy himself. Noticeably missing from the tribute were former Bad Boy artists Carl Thomas, Total and Lil Cease. However, this was one of the best moments of the night as proven by the amount of people in the audience who was on their feet and hitting the Diddy bop. Hopefully this performance will lead to a 20 year anniversary album!

We’d be lying if we told you that the soundtrack to The Great Gatsby isn’t subpar. Though it has an all-star cast, much like the movie it’s tied to, there’s something  overwhelmingly lame about it. Nevertheless, it did remind us of other times when hip-hop and movies collided. For your listening pleasure, we’ve compiled these special moments below.

4. Bad Boys 2 

Though this is the soundtrack to a Michael Bay movie,  it’s genuinely not as scatter-brained as that connection would imply. While some of the songs were not originally recorded for the record, the true beauty of the album is how well it flows. Also, this is probably the last project where Bad Boy artists were collectively visible.

Highlight: Notorious B.I.G. ft. 50 Cent – Realest Niggas

3. Blade 2

In the cultural landscape of 2013, it’s a little difficult to imagine a movie with swords and vampires as anything other than a clusterfuck, but we implore you not only to watch this movie, but to listen to this soundtrack. The blurring of the lines between EDM and hip-hop are the talk of the town these days, but this phenomenon is far from recent. This soundtrack is living proof. Some of the hottest electronic producers paired with the some of the hottest emcees and the result was of course, pure fire.

2. The Man With the Iron Fists

The quality of RZA’s directorial debut is divisive, but no one can disagree on the quality of the music. With the exception of that strange song with Ghostface and Wiz that comes at the tail-end, its a cohesive project throughout, particularly on the production side (Shouts to Frank Dukes). In fact, even Corrine Bailey Rae did some work on the boards.

1. Space Jam

Even among other children’s movies, Space Jam is a bizarre creature. Featuring Looney Tunes, aliens, Michael Jordan and even Bill Murray, it might be the single most “90’s: cultural artifact ever spawned. Nevertheless, the soundtrack is purely extraordinary. Beginning with Seal’s enrapturing cover of “Fly Like an Eagle,” it lifts you immediately and doesn’t let you touchdown for even a moment. Much like the plot for Space Jam, this soundtrack is a pure singularity.

Highlight: EVERYTHING.
