Berner and B-Real open up the visual for “FTB” with gritty, black and white visuals overlooking domineering vistas; a set that could very well be the landscape for an anthem about anything hip-hop. Instead, the two artists take their talents and instead rap about a trending topic in contemporary media, and will most likely continue to be one: marijuana, and its legalization.

The song comes straight off of Prohibition 3, and, keeping the tradition alive in the third part of the now trilogy, is creating sonic highs for the eardrums and ensuring that the listeners remains enthralled in a smoker’s heaven. “FTB” or “For the Bud” celebrates marijuana and its popularity over a smooth instrumental with lazy, hypnotizing, 808s blessing the ears and mentals of whoever the lucky person listening is.

Throughout the video, Berner & B-Real stand on top of rooftops to symbolize their connection with the top tier hip-hop musicians, and lounge around heaps and heaps of their drug of choice. Only professionals can make consistent smoker’s anthem such as these.

Danny Brown has unveiled the tracklist and release date for his upcoming LP Atrocity Exhibition. Just recently, the cover art for Danny’s forthcoming album (created by Timothy Saccenti) was revealed but the Detroit native gave Rolling Stone all the specifics on his new project.

He tells Rolling Stone, “At the end of the day, it’s just something that I really took my time with.  I know this day and age, a lot of artists can’t really take time off to make music … they’ll get replaced. With me, [I’m] somebody that’s able to sit down and be able to take my time, ’cause aint nobody gonna be out here sounding like me, ain’t nobody gonna be out here doing what I do. I’m confident in this project to know that I’mma satisfy the people that’s already fans of my music. So, if you’re a fan of Danny Brown, you in for a treat.”

The tracklist itself consists of 15 songs and features Ab-Soul, Earl Sweatshirt, Kendrick Lamar, B-Real and more.

Atrocity Exhibition is set to drop September 30^th via Warp Records and is available for pre-order on iTunes.

The Duck Down Records latest signee Chelsea Reject has had a lot of changes in her life in the past couple of months. Fresh from inking with Buckshot’s independent label, Reject has been busy opening up for Jay Electronica at the A3C Festival and opening on a couple of dates of the The Smokers Club Tour alongside Method Man & Redman, B-Real (of Cypress Hill), Berner and Mick Jenkins.

It’s been a long way coming for Chelsea Reject’s career. I first caught wind of the Brooklyn-bred MC in early 2011 at a Lyve Life showcase Dyme-a-Duzin used to put together, and she’s been bubbling ever since.

Three years later, her latest video “Everything’s Change” is setting up the release of her full-length project “CMPLX” due sometime this year. The video itself has a real spacey vibe to its aesthetic, the smooth jazz instrumental blends well with Chelsea’s laid-back flow as she spits about all the changes going around her including friends, passion, and the desire for artistic growth. Here’s what Reject had to say about the video:

“Everything’s Change” is about life and seasons and how “change” is the only consistent thing I know. Somehow it’s still the same shit.

A slew of rap icons are set to take part in a VH1 documentary on the connections between hip-hop and crack cocaine.  VH1’s project, Planet Rock: The Story of Hip Hop and the Crack Generation, is set to premiere September 18^th with narration from rapper/actor Ice-T.

The two-hour documentary attempts to delve into the parallels between hip-hop and crack cocaine, which both reached prominence in the 1980s.  A bevy of interviews—including appearances from Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang’s RZA and Raekwon and Cypress Hill’s B-Real—are featured in the film.  This summer has already seen some hard-hitting documentaries, let’s hope VH1’s latest endeavor will follow suit.
