Oh what a joy it is when a person truly follows their dreams.

Meet P. Muna. He’s shared stages with Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Lupe Fiasco, 2 Chainz, Mac Miller and Juicy J.

What’s more impressive is that he moved to NYC with $139 dollars in his pocket and a dream. But that’s nothing new. He’s looked adversity all of his life and persevered.

A product of a single parent household ( his father died from saving someone from drowning) he grew up seeing his mom sacrifice to provide for his brothers and sisters. Growing up and moving from the Catskills of New York and then Albany, he watched as his mother struggled but still made sure everyone was taken care of. “My mom just worked madd hard,” P. Muna told RESPECT Mag.

“Growing up and seeing that made me want to work harder and make the right choices. I watched my mom work hard and lead by example.”

Fast forward to 2016, and things have moved gracefully. Now a star on the MTV series, Are You The One, P. Muna is turning tuna into lobster.

In The Clipse’s song, Grindin’ Pusha T and Malice called themselves legends in two games like they’re Pee-Wee Kirkland. P.Muna is a growing legend because he’s musically gifted and athletically gifted. He’s fused the two together and it works in his favor and he’s on track to be quite prosperous musically.

P. Muna’s current EP, Live Long & Prosper is also doing well and he’s motivated. That would propably Make both Captain James Kirk and Captain Spock happy too!

It’s hip hop, soul and lyrics that stick to your guts like oatmeal on a cold winter day. There are six tracks on the album but they’re potent. Make sure to pay special attention to the sixth track, Let It Go. With 2016 almost over, everyone’s mindset should be out with the old and in with the new. “I love music man,” he told me.

P. Muna credits Michael Jackson, Nas, Whitney Houston, 50 Cent, The Lost Boys and Luther Vandross for musical inspiration.Way before his acclaim as an artist, P. Muna was a legend in another area; football. Prosper Mbongue-Muna out of Albany Academy was kicking tail and taking names. He hauled in 20 passes for 275 yards as a wide receiver and was tapped as First-team All-Area linebacker by the Albany Times Union. He also led the team with 80 tackles and helped his team earn Reinfurt Division first-team and all-league recognition in his senior year.

After high school, he went on to rock out at the University of Albany as a student athlete where he majored in English with a minor in Africana Studies.

Today, he’s living in New York City and splits time between recording in the studio and he’s also a personal trainer. “New York City is at my pace,” he said. “It’s fast. I grew up in Albany, but what I love about the city is that it has a lot of working people who are trying to accomplish their goal and they’re chasing it. I definitely feed off of it.”

Check Out P. Muna’s Motivation

So what’s next?

He’s got a forthcoming book called, The Game which is slated to release before Christmas “I was on the reality show; it’s part of the game, right,” he said. “A lot of the people on the show couldn’t grasp who I was. The book is giving people the opportunity to get to know me on a deeper level.”

Be on the lookout for his next EP, called 1991. The six track EP, branded after ‘91, the year that he was born, zeroes in on his influences from then on. “It’s very soulful, very honest and it’s going to tell a real story about who’s lost but at the end of the album, he finds his purpose.”
