Boston-based rapper Antonio Breez pays homage to one of his heroes with the new video for “2PAC,” which finds the rising artist spitting crazy braggadocio over a flip of Pac classic, “Hail Mary.”

Over the past several years, Breez has built a strong following with the release of wholly original material (like 2017’s great The Migration Narrative) and clever new takes on legendary material like “2PAC.” And to continue building anticipation for the second Migration Narrative, which is due out May 30th, he shares this Kountdown-produced take on “Hail Mary” that was actually played for him by Hip-Hop godfather Erick Sermon.

For the track’s visuals, director Pen Pushas takes us on colorful journey through Breez’s verses, which include slick edits of the emcee delivering his rhymes and stunting in front of his JEEP. The color changes are particularly arresting, and somehow inject even more life into this already-lively single from the 23-year-old artist whose style—and highly quotable wordplay (that Whitey Bulger line!)—is all his own.

After releasing his deeply personal debut album, The Convocation of Antonio Breez, in 2016, Boston-based emcee Antonio Breez digs further into his past on his instantly gripping sophomore full-length, The Migration Narrative. The independent project is brimming with lyrical depth that’s steeped in every element that’s made him the man he is today. From tales of his mother giving birth to Breez at just 17 years old in a Brooklyn ghetto, to his biological father’s absence due to incarceration, the 16 tracks on Migration bring a narrative to life that deserves to be heard. After all, how many other albums feature the artist’s father dropping by for a guest verse?

And to celebrate the record’s release, Breez is sharing his new video for standout single “I Had Fun.” The lighthearted track and short film-esque visuals demonstrate the rapper’s maturity and easy-going personality, as he waxes poetic (and somehow doesn’t go bonkers) about being two-timed by his girlfriend. Breez is obviously enjoying the last laugh, though, because his star is only continuing to rise. Add Antonio Breez to the list of burgeoning Bostonian emcees on the come-up. After years spent working on his craft, the time has come for the release of his debut effort, The Convocation of Antonio Breez. Today, his friends, fam, fans, and Hip-Hop enthusiasts assemble from far and wide through the mysticism of modern technology (thank you, internet) to stream his dissertation, of sorts. From his artistic commitment, to life choices, relationships, and bars that reach out smack you from cyberspace, Antonio’s inaugural LP is as lyrical as it is distinguished. Breez’s performance on Convocation is only rivaled by the production value, where upcoming producers’ Kazi Beatz, Official Sticqel, Magic on the Beat, and more, help contribute towards his Summa Cum Laude achievement.

For some extra credit, Breez is pleased to share the visuals for “You Ain’t Hot” and “Exodus,” which are condensed into one engaging video. The focus on both videos is placed on Breez’s lyrics, where the first half takes us back to the days of Video Music Box where low-definition public access cable reigned supreme. “Exodus” places things in a more post millennial context, where a hoodied-up Breez bodies bars in an abandoned parking lot that has a plot twist that’s to be continued.
