Black Dave continues his streak success, scoring a verse from Maybach Music’s Honest Cowboy, Stalley Mallison. Both spitters take some time out to acknowledge the hustle with a remix to Dave’s original song, “9:40,” which appeared on his recent project, Black Bart.

Fun fact: Their collaboration over this simple soulful loop is a fitting one, partially because for some time they shared similiar occupations working for New York based Streetwear brands in their pasts; Stalley worked for Alife and Black Dave still works for Supreme.

Last night, MMG/Atlantic’s own Stalley returned to his old stomping grounds at the Alife Rivington where he hosted a special listening of his upcoming project, Honest Cowboy. The Ohio native extended the invite to his biggest fans via Twitter because he wanted to treat listeners to a sneak peak of the all the cuts that made it onto the final Honest Cowboy track list.

Honest Cowboy drops August 8th, and Alife, along with Nice Kicks, hosted the celebration. Stalley previewed his fan’s favorite tracks. Joints like “Samson“, “Swangin“, “Nineteeneighty7“, and “Feel the Bass“, were some tracks that particularly showcased how the rapper’s talents have grown since signing with Rick Ross’ Maybach Music label. Honest Cowboy is Stalley’s 5th mixtape in six years and artists like Schoolboy Q, Scarface, and Crystal Torres threw down ill guest verses for the project. Beats were supplied by Block Beataz and Rashad, among others.

Also in the house last night were Atlantic Records up-and-comers Justine Skye & Dusty McFly, who showed up to support their label mate. The excited fans and A Life staff definitely turned the event into a party, proving that Stalley‘s Ohio sound is well-respected in NYC. Spitta arrived at the Alife Rivington Club  last night surrounded by supporters, weed smokers and emcees alike, and the small streetwear venue was packed like a tuna can.  Due to Alife not having serato, Plain Pat played the album via Itunes, which, surprisingly, didn’t hurt at all.  The albums upsides can definitley be heard through Spitta’s collaborations with folks like Pharrell, Wiz Khalifa, Big K.R.I.T and Wale. The Stoned Immaculate feels like a cohesive album mixing live sound elements and his usual spacey, droning sound. After a round of applause concluding the albums last song, Spitta told the crowd, ” Man stop that shit. I Don’t need that. Just smoke something.” A humble man indeed.

PRIVATE PROPERTY brings together high-end sustainable furniture design and downtown New York graffiti culture: The project counts on the participation of infamous graffiti writers EARSNOT, SEMEN, JIM JOE and KR; legendary Lower East Side hang out Max Fish and its unruly clientele; and lifestyle brand ALIFE—all of whom have produced self-titled pieces.

A collaborative effort between ALIFE and Brooklyn-based contemporary furniture manufacturer UHURU, the project runs during New York Design Week and presents a a unique collection of handcrafted sustainable furniture that plays with the concept of vandalism, private property
and each’s appropriation of the other.
