<p>Meet<strong> Cranio:</strong> a <strong>Brazilian</strong> street artist who is fighting to keep traditions alive. His characters are dressed as aboriginals. He uses the color blue for their skin tone, which gives them an alien-like quality. <strong>Cranio</strong> conveys a message of universal misunderstanding of the indigenous culture, while merging old traditions with modern day events in order to raise awareness.</p>
<p><a href="http://respect-mag.com/street-art-dont-forget-to-remember-the-indigenous/carnio1/" rel="attachment wp-att-49167"><img decoding="async" data-attachment-id="49167" data-permalink="https://respect-mag.com/2012/09/street-art-dont-forget-to-remember-the-indigenous/carnio1/" data-orig-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/carnio1.jpg?fit=640%2C480&amp;ssl=1" data-orig-size="640,480" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="carnio1" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/carnio1.jpg?fit=640%2C480&amp;ssl=1" data-large-file="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/carnio1.jpg?fit=640%2C480&amp;ssl=1" class="size-full wp-image-49167 aligncenter" title="carnio1" src="https://i0.wp.com/respect-mag.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/carnio1.jpg?resize=650%2C480" alt="" width="650" height="480" data-recalc-dims="1" /></a></p>
<p>If you only look at the top part of his characters&#8217; facial features they seem either deprived of emotions or angry. It is only their smile that indicates more expression. The contrast between their traditional clothing and the fact that they are wearing shoes is a social commentary on consumerism. He even purposefully uses universally recognized brand logos.</p>
